Cubs Thread 2023

Having an incredible breakout.

Of course Cubs needed a better guy there than Michael Fulmer.

That's not the guy who lives in the van down by the river with Chris Farley is it?

Just remembered it was Daniel Norris lol.

Heyward of all Dodgers with the key at bat of the game.

A cub fan told me he actually feels sorry for me, his team is an up and coming team, and as he pointed out, the Sox are becoming irrelevant  and will remain that way until JR passes which could take years

Yeah, Steele is better than Giolito and Kopech

Interesting how the Cubs decided to overhaul their pitching dev after years of bad results and now it's paying dividends. I wonder why they didn't continue to bang their head into a wall repeatedly like the White Sox do.

Padres will put it together eventually on offense...but they're looking very disinterested/listless in the early going.

Cubs really on a roll but they still have to get past the Brewers and Cardinals (who also look pretty bad early)...can't imagine the Pirates won't start to fade eventually.

Jed Hoyer and Carter Hawkins the Cubs have put together a solid team, and it has paid dividends.

Was impressed when Hoyer answered questions honestly the past few years and the FO looked at where they were weak and stepped up accordingly.

Sox backloaded both 2023 FA acquisitions Benintendi ($8.6M on $15M AAV deal) and Clevinger ($4.0M 2024 mutual option).

Cubbies imploded in 8th and 9th innings vs Twins.  Tough loss.

Cubs have been terrible since their hot April start.

Taillon has been pretty awful for the Cubs. 6.66 ERA before today, when he lasted only 2 innings.

That division will be a dogfight all season long.  The Brewers have such a terrible offense right now.

Jay Cuda will probably announce that the Cubs still have the biggest attendance increase so far this year.

We didn't lose any money with Jake Diekman or Jose Ruiz?

Both were included in the opening day payroll totals. Leury was cut before the season, so he was added separately in the listed Opening Day Payrolls.

Fwiw don't look now but we have a better record than the Cubs as of today

Hendricks no hitter thru 6. 68 pitches.
