I often go to Mannys before games, lol. The 78 is not easily accessible by foot unless you make a dedicated effort and then you are in no man's land. That is why I was asking who has actually been on it....walked on the property...and where did you park to do that. I  suspect most people on this forum have not been on that property but only looked at Related's ridiculous renderings.

What was “ridiculous” about their renderings?

While that argument makes sense for an out of town fan who has never lived in the city, it's odd to hear this from a Brother Rice grad who should understand the roots of the team. Unless, you're trying to spark conversation.

I've been back to the south side. It's old and somewhat depressing although I will always love Br. Rice and Q of Martyrs and always want to go back. The south side is old and decrepit. The Sox used to be cool and cool is the freshness of suburbia unfortunately. I love old. Comiskey but the owners should know it's time to own suburbia.

Except suburbia is 75-80% Cubs' fans to the north and west...

The present ownership has no intention of renewing the lease at the present stadium. I doubt that new ownership will want to renew the lease so  it will be curious to see how this plays out.

Present ownership has no intention of renewing the lease because the odds are they will no longer be around.

New ownership coming in will have a much different opinion in all likelihood.

I think if a team fell in their laps suburban dwellers would jump on the bandwagon. But it can't be a team that loses 120 games. That s%*# doesn't sell anywhere.

And that from China.  Anyway, not true for the West  (i.e. Burr Ridge, LaGrange, Plainfield) or Southwest (Oak Lawn, Evergreen Park, Frankfort, Mokena, Homer Glen, New Lenox, Joliet,).  The City itself is largely minority and probably majority Sox fans. Whatever, historically people tend to jump on the bandwagon for a winner, so it will be rough for a while....which makes it  important for the Sox base to remain strong. Don't buy into negative narratives that are frequently promoted by those who aren't Sox fans and those who continually mock the team and overtly wish for failure. There are folks who never have a good word to say about the WSox and take a weird sense of satisfaction in targeting Sox fans like myself, always trying to one up us and mock us.

Are u sure? I think the Western suburbs are Sox fans basically. They want nothing to do with Wrigley and Wrigleyville. If you build a Jerry Jones complex out West, they will come, baby!

I think everybody on this board would love to ignore negative narratives and say good things about the Sox. We just can't, however, cause they won 41 games last year, made no attempt to improve the 2025 team and some experts aren't even convinced we have stars to save us in the rebuild.

I think he's right. I've had a somewhat recurring dream off and on that has me buying an apartment/condo around 103rd and Pulaski or one of those small houses. And I think I'm going to love being back in the old neighborhood, and end my life where it started, in the big city. Instead the old buildings and lack of brand spanking new shopping centers (Ford City is a dump) and the narrow streets really depress me and the dream turns into a nightmare. ... I guess if I ever moved back, which I won't, I'd need to live down by Navy Pier in a nice place.

Reinsdorf created the negative narrative — a 41-121 record, the most losses of any major league club since 1900.  The 2025 team is potentially looking at another 100 losses.  There is no wishing for failure.  There currently IS failure and it’s the direct result of a terrible owner, not these “fake Sox fans” that you are trying to blame things on.  Fans don’t build the team or choose to tank and rebuild repeatedly because they want to be cheap and save money.  That is the direct decision of the man in charge.

It will be really depressing if the Sox lose on opening day and start out something like 2-23.

You really have no idea what you are talking about

Hardcore Cub fans stick there nose into the ass in front of them and go to games year after year, no matter what, for the experience. Hardcore Sox fans stay home.

Then you have the battle for the casual fan that goes to maybe a game or two each year. They can't name more than a couple players. Some years they may skip a game and go to a museum or some s%*#. Many of those fans will go to a suburban stadium no matter which team is the home team.

The hardcore fans for either team? They will b**** if the other team moves into their neighborhood and never visit except for a crosstown game.

Like you are supplying on this project?

The only "targeting" going on is you attacking everyone who might be excited about a South Loop location.

Am I really that far off that 75-80% of fans from Naperville Bolingbrook, etc., are more Cubs' fans?  Rosemont?  Schaumburg?

Especially north of I-88...

Where the Kane County Cougars used to play?

There are plenty of Sox fans in Naperville and Plainfield.
