He's not a catcher. He plays an OF corner probably LF.  I think they're gonna take a player who can stay in the middle.

The trouble with the SS is that the good hitters seem to hit well "for a shortstop."  So yea, they can play anywhere but they don't have the corner hit-tool to bring with them.  I'm just going by the write-ups and descriptions; perhaps some of these guys really can hit.

So Jo Jo can really hit; but he won't end up at SS.  So it's unclear whether he can really hit for a SS or if he can really hit for, say, a RF.

See Jackson Merrill...although he clearly profiles much better in CF than right.

Braden seems like our only possibility for RF now...considering the ongoing struggles of Wolkow and Zavala.

94 mph exit velocity, 24% barrel rate, 80% contact rate playing in the SEC. Those combined numbers I would think put him above any college hitter position concerns be damned. Not to mention a last name that will print money for this franchise.

Wolkow is what 19 or 20 and you are writing him off already.

He's not going to be promoted to High A at this rate. If he is still at Kanny next year, that will be his third season there, Patience is not a virtue forever.

Ok. He can hit a juiced ball, using a metal bat, against bad pitching. 

Does he have feel to hit?  Does he have a solid approach? Does he have bat speed? Can he handle an inside fastball?  Can he recognize spin? Can he manipulate the barrel? Can he make adjustments?

Those are the questions that need to be answered if you're trying to figure out if an amateur can hit at the next level and those metrics answers none of them.

Barrel rate definitely answers the first part of that. The numbers are also comparative, which is what I'm saying. His cumulative barrel rate, contact rate, and exit velocity are better than his fellow college hitting peers vs the same bad pitching (albeit he would face better pitching in the SEC). He had nice numbers in cape cod league using wood bats too.

I just wonder how they really measure those things. There’s no combine where they could formally measure.  The SEC has more top-level pitching than the other leagues, but it has a lot of terrible pitching as well.  A league like Cape Cod, with more concentrated talent, might provide the best insight.

I went to watch LSU/Florida last year and got a sick video of Cags crushing a HR immediately following a FB being thrown at his head because of a dispute earlier in the game. He razzed the crowd when he came back it on the dugout. It was a cool moment to capture. In the next inning my cousin asked me to get some pics and videos of her friend's son who is on LSU if he happens to come into the game. He did enter the game eventually. I took some pics to be polite. I had no idea who the kid was and completely forgot who it was until just now.

Her son is Kade Anderson. 😆

That would be phenomenal. I wanted Willits coming into the year, but no chance he slides to 10. 

I doubt Forbes will there at 2-44 but if he is it's a no brainer.
