Not gonna happen butttttt.....I really do think Billy has a great basketball mind. It'd seem very Riensdorfian to just promote the coach into a front office roll, but i think I'd support it.I don't know if I see the NBA approving two different brothers owning teams at the same time in the NBA.

April 7Apr 7 https://www.si.com/nba/bulls/bulls-fire-general-manager-vice-president-disappointing-seasonSummary of big moves that flopped
April 7Apr 7 At least Michael pulled the trigger. One kudo for him. Thibs? Check Home Depot for job openings.
April 7Apr 7 Leave it to the Reinsdorfs to let a lame duck front office decide the asset future of the team only to be forced to let them go a month later
April 7Apr 7 Michael Reinsdorf will be having a press conference about the firings in about 5 minutes, the score is carrying it live not sure if espn1000 or CHSN is

April 7Apr 7 Don't know why anyone would expect Jerry/Michael to have any sort of grasp on how to properly build a front office.

It just wasn’t a very confidence-inducing talk with The Chairman jr

While forcing Billy onto the new GM is backwards, I don't necessarily think it's wrong. Especially with Malone being gone Billy still has to be one of the top candidates out there if not THE top HC candidate available should he be made available.

That’s not casting a wide net, that’s eliminating people by placing a qualifier on the hire. I like Billy and I would like him to stay but if a new GM came in and said he wants to clean house, I would let him do it and not say “well you can’t choose a HC”

But then again, this is the same ownership that gave these guys secret extensions last June only to fire them now.

I took some of the quotes more positively than others - doesn't mean I'm confident, but feels like a good sign. And while I get the - let the new guy decide on Billy D - I can respect the fact that Billy D knows basketball, is an extremely likeable person who works well with others, and is a very solid head coach (maybe not top 5 head coach - but the combo of his relationship and soft skills and his knowledge makes him more than competent). So I don't see it as big of an issue as some - but doesn't make it perfect.I think the org is better having Billy D involved in the process than if Billy D wasn't here and it was left to the remaining crew to make a decision. I still think their preference would be Billy D becoming president - so I still think there is a scenario where we see a GM come in, Billy D coaches another year or two and than he moves into a president role and they bring in a new coach - while enabling continuity. I liked the quotes from Billy D - around having a smart room vs. a smart individual. I really have never heard a bad thing about the guy. I do worry that he is too focused on winning that they may try to force things vs. doing this proper.

If Presti says no to that, you're eliminating Presti from contention?

April 8Apr 8 At least they are actually interviewing for the position, not just looking at the equipment manager and thinking he or she will be the perfect yes man.

That was evident the last four seasons as they fooled themselves into running back mediocrity after mediocrity.“Conviction: We need someone who is not afraid to pull the trigger,” Reinsdorf said.Translation: The Karnisovas regime and the end of the Gar/Pax regime had too many roster spots filled with players the front office overrated and didn’t want to move off of in time.Sam Hinkie c'mon down!
