This is really bad news for the Sox in the future. 

If T100 prospects are now untouchable then the Sox have no chance for a very long time.

Agreed.  But gal’s point remains.  There may no longer be much of a path to selling top assets for prospects any longer.  Teams aren’t willing to give them up.  That, along with the draft changes…

Yes, I frequently draw strong conclusions based on the outcome of one trade deadline where the two best players available weren't even dealt.

Not like there were stars flying from one team to the next.

Also, why would teams be more willing to move top 100 prospects at years end (which just happened this past off season) but not at deadline?

This means nothing more than a lot of garbage was moved around.

I'll say this though, jazz balling out in New York.

We can't waste a year for evaluations either.

If that holds, we must reevaluate our international game. We have to figure out how to be at least top ten internationally.

As well it should have been. 

The two biggest rebuild success stories of the last decade were the Astros and the Orioles. Neither was built through selling off veterans.  

now the White Sox rebuild, which lasted two years, was maybe 65%-70%  via selling veterans.  
even teams that are good traders, don’t really do it through top 100 players. They just scout better than the other team and they have a system that they can fit players into.

That's a reasonable ask....and if they were all bats, it would have gone a long way to helping the barren wasteland of our position prospect depth.

Alas, it will have to wait till the offseason when the player agent will no longer have leverage. 

Ofcourse, if the club is gonna insist on someone eating Beni's entire deal as part of the Crochet trade, then we'll be lucky to get a single Top 10 prospect back in a given team's system.

not sure how well versed you are in math but that's a range of about 300 players and at least 200 of them are going to be outside of the top 100

Snelling is on MLB pipeline 100, and he was traded for a relief pitcher rental in Scott.  

So many trades but what was the most significant trade?

the best path is and always has been drafting and developing. if you can't get that right you aren't going to be consistently successful. sox are a perfect example of that.

Orioles rebuild thus far hasn't really done anything that ours didn't do.

Snelling's arrow is pointing down.  That'll happen when you get absolutely lit up in AA.  He's still interesting, but he's no longer a top 100 guy. 

Also, this idea that because no top 100 prospects were dealt this deadline (even though many were dealt last deadline and this past offseason), it means no top 100 prospects will ever be dealt henceforth for the rest of time is  nonsense.

Yeah I am sure it will be more successful overall, but to call it successful already would mean you'd have to think the Sox one was successful. Which we know it wasn't. So I'm not claiming it on the Astros level quite yet. Might never get there.
