The cowboys thing really is crazy. I don’t understand AT ALL what Jerry is trying to do. They were going to keep McCarthy, denied the Bears the interview request, then fired him.

“America’s Team”, with an owner that craves attention and the spotlight…announces their new coach at 10pm ET on a Friday night? Why are you hiring a guy no one is excited for? Did he even have any interviews this cycle with any other teams? He didn’t even call plays last year lol. Like absolutely bizarre. Oh, and they brought in Flus as DC lol.

Flus is good DC hire but Cowboys are nuts. Jerry must just have wanted someone he could control?

That's why they are three decades back to their last title...and Jerry Jones' acting skills aren't improving if Landman Ep.9 is any indication.

I thought I read he hasn't been a serious head coaching candidate since like 2008 or some wild year.

From what it sounds like, McCarthy rebuffed them when Jerry was doing his “wait until last moment of contract then pay way too much” routine and they weren’t prepared. Jerry fully seems in his reinsdorf era of just wanting coaches who like him and he likes.

Awful situation for cowboys fans. I think Schotty is a good OC but this seems like Jason Garrett at best.

It is so funny that the bears offensive savior staff is made up of not Andy Reid guys or Shanahan guys or McVay guys but John shoop and Adam gase guys

The Ben Johnson is a Marc Trestman type rumors have aged poorly.  You can tell that this dude isn’t one who will cower to his players.

Yeah, I’ll hold off on those types of predictions.

After Eberflus was hired, they had a segment on one of the local sports radio shows where they talked about certain negative things not flying in an Eberflus locker room. At the time, I thought “How can they possibly know that already?”

I remember my first thought after his introductory press conference was that he did not sound like a confident guy at all, and boy did that play out

That John Shoop connection in particular is hilarious.

I never got that vibe from Eberflus, but there is a world of difference between him and Trestman.  The latter simply wasn’t capable of being a leader of men in any capacity and that was obvious the first time he opened his mouth.

Hopefully Ben Johnson is the reward for the 3 years of suffering under John Shoop.

Weirdly enough, Gase was a good enough OC here to get hired as HC.

You know what’s funny is Haugh and Mully had Shoop on the other day and they were all laughing it up with him like he was a great OC for the bears and all I remember is everyone being frustrated about his extremely conservative nature and never taking risks in the offense

That was 100% the life with shoop. But, I unno, looking back what was an offense with Jim Miller, Shane Matthew’s, etc as QB supposed to look like. Turned out he was better than Terry Shea that’s for sure.

Briggs seems to think it will for sure be Allen as DC. And Shaw as OC would be very interesting. Could for sure help build the culture and help out Caleb. Wouldn't be calling plays so could almost be another assistant HC.

I’d be a big fan of Shaw. Hated it as an HC but then read a lot of people who are still big believers of him as some who could have Harbaugh like success

He also has been singing the praises of Caleb for a long time. Called him the best prospect since Luck.

Al Harris already getting to work in Stevenson.

Antwaan Randle-El assistant head coach and wr coach. Comes over from Detroit. Thornton HS grad. Worked with him in high school. Good guy. Good coach.

Would be a pretty awesome staff IMO.  Are the Bears keeping Hightower as their special teams coordinator?

It seems that way.

NFL commercial with Matthew McConaughey practicing his Ditka in front of a mirror with the sweater  ,dark hair and 'stache was good.
