So do I, but rewarding mediocrity for the sake of a lack of options is a really bad precedent to set for a supposed "revamp" of the system. Let the kid prove he belongs.

Agreed.  If this happens, it will be for all the wrong reasons — a strong showing in the AFL and upcoming Spring Training.  He should have to start in AAA and prove that 2024 was just a down year.  But like you said, a lack of options and probably some cheapness on Jerry’s part means this could actually happen.

Yeah, the Hahn era never looked so good.

Rushing a player to the big leagues is something that the Sox have done for years. Hasn't worked. Glad the player has ambition, but he has to prove he is ready.

Based upon his awful 2024 season at Charlotte, Montgomery should be the opening day shortstop for Birmingham.

An absolute genius plan if carried out by Getz! If Hahn was to do this, it would be a disaster.

I mean, of course he would say that he wants to be the starting ss for the mlb team. He should say that. Doesn't mean he should get it though. I know spring numbers don't mean much but if he has a great spring I wouldn't mind him breaking with the team. Idk that I would dub him the regular starter though. I'd rather they sign an experienced veteran that he can split time with and learn from throughout the season. 

Guy earned a demotion last year, so let's promote him and give him the starting job.

Who of the White Sox decision makers are saying they are doing that? Colson is hoping to be the opening day starter. Which...why wouldn't he want that?
