Benintendi’s contract is Soto’s signing bonus lol

That Harper deal will forever be the steal of the century.  And no star better fit a franchise than Harper to the White Sox.  Everything would have probably still flamed out because of KW & Hahn,

  • JR: "$15M AAV for three more years will cripple our franchise long term." Cohen: "$51M AAV for 15 years is what it takes to win."

Clearly. He should be here, squabbling with other posters about Austin Slater instead.

Good idea. I should do that.

Without a salary cap even the off-season is not very interesting. The high salaries and payrolls ruin the game.  Why even try to add significant  payroll if other teams are just going to blow that amount away and make it a farce. You want Jerry to sell? OK, but that doesn't mean a new owner is going to play a losing game by trying to compete with the big boys. Reportedly there are only 4 teams in on Soto.

Where do you think he started off?

Jerry hasn’t even played in the shallow pool the past couple years, and when he did we wound up with Benintendi.  And 5-years, $75 million is only a big signing to a handful of teams, the Sox being one of them.

Think I started here and then went to Twitter after. I still lurk here from time to time, especially in the offseason. Good way to read through rumors all in one place.

You can't compete with Yankees , Dodgers , San Diego etc. by signing one guy at $15 mil/year. The  salary cap is the issue, not the alleged frugality of Jerry Reinsdorf. You can't lay the blame for a broken system at the feet of one owner.

Well, as long as you're popping up: This tweet was hysterical and everyone else can chill.

Ugh. I never wanna hear Austin Slater's name again. He's the definition of 'just another guy' that the White Sox are so in love with giving 400 at bats.

Appreciate it. I know there’s a decent sized contingent of Sox fans who don’t like me but I just do my thing and want to see the team become successful again like everyone else here.

You don’t want to blame Jerry’s “alleged frugality”; however, the fact is that the payroll for 2025 is currently at around $66 million after arbitration raises for players.  Yes, Getz will sign some guys but likely not any large contract free agents.

You posted this in another thread…

”Yes, WSox need some hitters/position players so add them through FA ...but don't rob from Peter to pay Paul so to speak. Spend some damn money on FA instead of trying to go on the cheap by trying to outsmart other teams with trades and "developing" prospects while we watch another painful rebuild. Fvk that.”

So if the Sox trade some combination of Crochet/Robert/Benintendi and the payroll drops even lower, even with some minor additions by Getz, who in your opinion is to actually blame for this lack of spending?

The Sox are more than likely going to have a bottom five payroll in the MLB, next to teams like the A’s, Pirates, Rays, and Marlins.  There’s one person that controls these decisions and that’s Jerry.

Maybe I’m confused here, but doesn’t frugality mean using money wisely? I don’t remember any of those allegations

Oh s%*#, is this really happening?!  Maybe Getz was big braining us all along with the Vargas trade?  Get Soto’s best friend and have an automatic tiebreaker when the offers are close.  This could be just like the Alonso/Jay situation but actually work this time because that nerd Hahn ain’t leading negotiations.  And it would explain why we are so desperate to clear payroll…need that cash to land a fucking whale!

Stop trying to argue with dolts. It doesn't work.

Still waiting on Jerry to get in the kiddie pool with his floaters on.
