Reinsdorf sure didn't help Allen get into the Hall. Is that what you're implying? Or, am I inferring that correctly?

I do know he has stated in the past he didn’t deserve it. Said his greatness wasn’t long enough.

Great, now the Dodgers are going to start signing everybody's GMs.

Sweet, maybe they can steal away Getz first.

Nah, he’s too easy for the Dodgers to rob come the trade deadline.

Just the general state of the franchise is pretty darned pathetic...and the Phillies are one of the Top 6-8 "glamour" franchises right now.

So then the kids ignored the father's wishes and picked a franchise that was popular now, even though he had a pretty rough reception from Philadelphia fans? I'd put my money on the family being put off by Reinsdorf's pallid support and shitty remarks that they'd just go with the Phils.

Well, yeah, it's pretty hard to imagine him going in as a White Sox if your owner doesn't even believe he merits a HoF nod...

JR has gone on record as saying publicly he didn't think Allen was a Hall of Famer. I don't know if that had any impact or not over the years.

Alex Bregman isn’t this important to wait so long. Sign a contract already.

Latest reports are he'll sign with either the Cubs, Red Sox or Tigers. If he doesn't sign with the Cubs they are supposedly looking at Justin Turner.

7, 2020, at age 78, will posthumously be inducted in Cooperstown on July 27, 2025. “I am overjoyed that the Classic Baseball Era Committee has recognized that Dick is worthy of being immortalized in the Baseball Hall of Fame,” said Phillies Managing Partner and Chief Executive Officer John Middleton.Dec 8, 2024

Compare/contrast reactions...what would you do if you were his family?

And it's not like the White Sox owners BACK THEN have anything to do with who runs the team today.  They don't (meaning the family) "owe" JR anything at all.  It's not like he reached out to take care of him like guys from the past such as Minoso, Skowron, etc.

That's a HUGE drop off, obviously.

Put your money where you mouth is, as they say.

Can Turner even play the position defensively anymore...?

They should just go with Shaw, but rookies are hard to trust these days.

Nick Pivetta's the other relatively big name remaining...but still has the QO attached.

And 32.

Red Sox, Braves, Angels, Orioles and A's (of all teams) most likely to sign him in the "fan vote" at mlbtraderumors.

Dr. Fletcher one of the author's of the "Chili Dog MVP" book and a close friend of the family who was at the announcement told me tonight the cap issue is a "long story."

He didn't elaborate.

I hope he can provide more details at some point.

Greg Maddux went into the HOF with no logo on his hat. I was hoping that Dick Allen would do the same thing.

Dr. Fletcher got back to me tonight and he said that JR's comments had nothing to do with the selection of Phillies for Dick's hat.

Again he didn't elaborate.

My God when you actually see this on paper it could actually be worse than the garbage on the team collectively from last year.

I have flashbacks to the original movie "Major League." 🤯

The biggest news here is blocking all the 2B prospects with Rojas and then Vargas at 3B instead of second ...

SS is still up in the air.

The Ramos projection at DH is interesting.

The bullpen with the fixation on LHP that are career journeymen ...  doesn't look at all auspicious

Random question: are we expecting the team to go into the season with the same four uniforms (Pinstripes, Road Gray, Alternate Black, Southside) as last year?

Braves going in a direction...

90 wins and the ALCS. BOOK IT!
