Surprised the Sox didn’t go after Junis, as he’s only getting 4.5 million.  Thought he would have been a dynamite closer option.

Would have much preferred that to giving Martin Perez $5 million. Stuff on the margins like this is why the Guardians win and the Sox don’t.

Maximus Gavinus Sheets will come back for his revenge...

"In one non-injury related camp note, Boone said this week that the Yankees will get Ben Rice catching reps during the spring (relayed by Hoch). A bat-first player, Rice played almost exclusively first base during his 50-game rookie season. He started 31 games behind the dish in the minors last season. Rice has nearly 1000 career minor league innings as a catcher, though most scouting reports question whether he can stick."   mlbtraderumors.com

"According to a source, Ragans received a $250,000 signing bonus and will make $1 million this season. His salary jumps up to $4.5 million in ‘26 – what would have been his first arb-eligible season – and then $7.5 million in ‘27. If Ragans – who finished fourth in American League Cy Young voting in 2024 – wins the Cy Young this year or next, his ‘27 salary rises to $8 million."

"Was I disappointed? I don't think I would characterize my emotions that way," Harris said of Bregman's choice to sign with the Red Sox. "I would say we want players who want to be here. I say it a lot because I mean it. We want players who want to be Tigers. We made a very compelling offer to Alex Bregman, but he chose to sign somewhere else. That's fine. We knew that was a possibility throughout this process and we planned for that outcome. We're fortunate to be in this spot where we have an owner in Chris [Ilitch] who gives us the flexibility to chase the lead free agents. We're going to land those guys sometimes, like we did with Jack Flaherty. Sometimes we're not, and that's fine."

Cubs for Arenado?

I will let someone else start the thread, but the Jenks news is devastating

Sure sounds like it

"Speaking of Tommy John rehab, second-round pick Blake Larson was on the backfields Monday sporting the large black supportive brace that has become a common sight in baseball over the past decade. Newly 19, fresh off a high school workload and already tasked with adding overall strength this year, the White Sox aren’t viewing this as a disastrous setback in Larson’s build up and development. But while TJ might be somewhat inevitable, it’s obviously not ideal."

Cubs sign Chris Flexen...terms pending

Padres signed Yuli Gurriel...looks like no guaranteed money, but they still need a 1B/DH bat...Gain Sheets in the mix as well.  Waiting for JD Martinez to come down in price?

That's good. I wish Flexen well. I went to the home finale against the Angels. Flexen got a standing O when he was pulled in the 7th.

Apparently. It’s the ideal time for it but sucks for the kid regardless. Would’ve been really limited this first season anyway.

But of course the Sox will waste six months screwing around before finally deciding 'rest and rehab' aren't doing s$%^. Then have the kid have the surgery.

By the information above and appearance of the tell-tale brace...he already had it two months or so ago.

The Guardians are reportedly in agreement with free agent lefty John Means on a one-year deal with a 2026 club option. The signing, which is pending a physical, guarantees the Wasserman client a $1MM salary for the upcoming season. The option can be worth up to $7.5MM after factoring escalators and does not include a buyout. Means is recovering from his second career Tommy John surgery and expected to be out of action until August.

Interesting speculative move for MAYBE just 1-2 months worth of season...insurance policy.

So this was the draft pick they got back in the Gregory Santos trade?  Yikes…

Zach DeLoach — DFA and no other team wanted him so the Sox retained him.

Prelander Berroa — 6.41 ERA and 1.83 WHIP in Charlotte last season.  Looked good with Sox but had a near 1.50 WHIP because he walks too many batters.

69th pick in the 2024 draft — Blake Larson — needs TJ surgery

As they should.

Could be or they could be using the brace as an attempt to let the UCL rest and heal.

It’s not that concerning that he needs TJ surgery. And better now before he’s been added to the 40-man where he gets service time on the IL

I know you just want to paint this as worse as possible for the trade of...Gregory Santos, but a young guy a few years off at best getting TJ is not that big of a deal. It's just how the league is now with young pitchers.

How does that work for Bush?  Does he get service time while he recovers from his TJS?  Also, doesn’t it make a difference if he was on the 26 man (or active) roster vs. the 40 man?
