Old ex alert: (I just hummed his name to Macarena, and fucked my brain for the day), but Donovan's Lalena came to save the day.

Soroka starting for the Nats:

Nationals Notes: Soroka, Wood, Garcia - MLB Trade Rumors

Quote

Soroka made his spring debut for his new club yesterday, posting three scoreless innings while walking one and striking out three.

Those strong results aren’t especially meaningful given the nature of Spring Training, but MASN’s Bobby Blanco noted yesterday that Soroka’s velocity was up substantially during the outing. Per Blanco, Soroka “nearly” averaged 95mph throughout the outing and topped out at 96.2mph. That’s a big step up from previous years of his career, where the right-hander has typically averaged around 93mph on his heater, with last year’s 93.5mph figure standing as his current regular season peak. One outing of just 39 pitches hardly guarantees that Soroka will be able to keep up mid-90s velocity throughout the regular season, but both Soroka himself and manager Dave Martinez appeared encouraged by the start, the latter of whom called it “very encouraging.”

We basically are going to be perceived as a "good place to get your career back on track," which isn't an altogether bad thing if Katz/Bannister keep seeing their reputations across the industry increase.

Paying him $9 million or putting him into the starting rotation never made a whole lotta sense for the White Sox, but it was definitely an interesting/eye-raising contract proffered by the Nationals.

But of course.

Getz sure seems to jump the gun on free agents.  Q is much better than Perez at a similar price.  But I’m sure someone will argue that Q wouldn’t have signed with the Sox.

I'll do that.

He was clearly holding out for the Mets or another contender. He ended up getting the Brewers.

They need to knock it off with the 83 look.  It sucks and it is played out.

I definitely don't want to see the regular '83s ever again. I'd love to see them bring back the '50s Minnie Minoso hats/logos as the Sunday alternate.
