It was way past time to move on from Paddy. It’s going to take a couple years to see Getz/Keller guys come in but damn, that’s dreadful

Does anyone know the White Sox budget for its international activities?

They only have like $40K left in period that runs through December 15. They’re basically done

I mean the budget for the whole shebang. Scouting, bonuses, facility, etc. What a joke.

I know they are building a new Dominican facility so there is that. It is going to take a couple of years to see what changes or improves under Keller in the international department.

I’m old enough to remember when Marco Paddy was the savior. The more things change, the more they stay the same. There is one change that will help, and that doesn’t seem imminent.

And seeing as no one has said who refused to negotiate with the younger kids, we still don't know if the main problem is fixed.

David Keller referenced finding impact talent that the club doesn't have access to in free agency as part of international strategy. They'll be going after kids. The biggest issue is that deals are basically signed through 2028 already.

He said they are willing to negotiate with 13/14/15  year olds?

Of course not but that’s the name of the game. I don’t think he takes the job unless he has the ability to do what he wants.

So Marco Paddy didn't want to do that?  No one has ever actually answered any of this.

The number of confirmed signings in the 2025 class stands at 24 players. This will probably rise.

One of the signings that was widely reported on January 15th - Roderick Medina 275k - was never confirmed. He pitched for St. Peter's HS (NY)  this spring.

Let's hope for better results than last year - 19 players signed, only 9 remain in the organization (9 released, 1 traded). Two of the remaining players were signed after the season had ended and haven't played a game.

Signings are still being announced. All older guys who will have been cheap:

P - Alexander Martinez (22yo) and Andy Peralta (18yo)

C - Deury Ramos (19yo) and Erasmi Rodriguez (21yo)

They also signed a 21 year old outfielder named Fidel Montero. He was previously signed by the Yankees in 2021, so I don't believe he counts against the spending cap. He hasn't played a game this season, so could well be a position change candidate (to pitcher).

I'll be sure to keep an eye out for Fidel.
