Exactly why they should be signing quality mlb free agents rather than running a $60M payroll in 2025 and 2026. They’ll still end up with a top 10 pick in 2026 most likely even if they sign a few guys this winter. Or maybe they get lucky like Cleveland did in 2024 and end up #1 overall anyways.

They need the #1 pick in 2026.  Maybe the lottery screws them, but being 3rd worst instead of the worst because they played a bunch of guys who will be long gone before they are .500 again would be such a White Sox thing to do.

  • Solid move, was gonna be tough to block all the infield prospects without an addition of some kind.

No player worth anything wants to sign with this organization when it’s been in such disarray over the past few seasons. The Sox can only sign players who don’t have a lot of options to play elsewhere

It’s absolutely wild.  The only spot we have multiple prospects at is 2B & 3B and we just blocked them all.  No fucking clue what we are doing here.

Maybe they should have tried not losing 222 games over 2 years.

Luckily they had some mid tier free agents so it was really entertaining.

Pretty sure the 3 worst records have the exact same odds.

Make it 4th then just to make it extra Soxy.  It's not like they are picking 10th this year because they picked 5th last year because they were only 3rd worse.

Harold is sad…  😉

According to Pat Ragazzo of Sports Illustrated, both the Mariners and Yankees have inquired with the Dodgers about second baseman Gavin Lux.
Ragazzo notes that the Yankees called about Lux several weeks ago — before the Dodgers signed Hyeseong Kim to add to their infield mix. He also notes that the Mariners have been much more aggressive in their pursuit of Lux. The Dodgers haven’t publicly said that they’re listening to offers on Lux, but it seems like something has to give there after signing Kim to a three-year pact earlier in the week. Stay tuned.

I don’t see how something has to give in relation to Lux and Kim. Kim projects more as a super utility player. With Taylor, Kim and Rojas projecting as their bench with Edman moveable around the diamond as well, don’t think they’d necessarily need to move Lux

Edman is supposed to be primarily a CFer or LFer this year.

Teoscar and Conforto will be in the corners.

It’s wild that we don’t know the terms yet and what the corresponding roster move will be, especially given Merk is the who broke this signing.

Works for me.

Amaya and Shewmake being launched sets the SS battle between C. Monty and Brooks Baldwin with Sosa and Meidroth as backup to that plan. Nick Maton can also cover SS, I guess.

I'm happy for both Amaya and Shewmake to be gone, as there is no temptation for either to start a full week between IL stints of more capable players.

Is the difference betwee Amaya and Rojas about $3 million value?  Eh.

It’s Colson’s spot unless he blows it

Good, I wanted nothing to do with Jacob Amaya getting playing time.

Montgomery shouldn't sniff the big league roster on Opening Day. To start, I think the infield will be Rojas 3B, Sosa SS, Meidroth 2B, AV 1B, Vargas DH (with some 3B and 1B starts), and Baldwin mixing in at SS, 2B a few times a week, maybe a little 3B too.

Called. It.

I can't see how Colson at SS on OD isn't the plan. It has to be his to lose.

On the 40-man, you don't have any real SS. Baldwin can maybe fake and hold down the fort but there really aren't any other options. Maybe Lenyn? But he also hasn't really played there the past few years.

Those betting on the under 49.5 wins love this plan...especially Sosa at SS.

I'm cool with this.

I also had to look up who Nick Maton was and learned he's a local boy (as in Illinois) with the nickname "Wolfie." If he resurrects my profile picture from the dead, I'm on board.

Why are we burning a year of service time when we can wait a few weeks and gain an extra year of control?

Because it’s the White Sox way… 😆

It doesn't make ANY sense...it's not like it will result in 500-1,000 extra season tickets being sold.   It's not like JR and Family is rushing out to give him an early extension (see Bobby Witt, Jr.) after what happened with Robert/Moncada/Jimenez, either.

Everyone around baseball knows the smart play here is to wait until May, and especially coming off the kind of season and various physical and psychological challenges that Montgomery went through last year.  That's not all simply "cured" by a strong AFL campaign...where he wasn't even playing SS on a consistent basis.

Never fear Captain Panic is here!

Not to mention, Colson was ass in AAA last year. He hasn't earned it.  I doubt he's on the Opening Day roster. White Sox will White Sox, but I don't see it with this one.
