How does this team win more games then last year?

They have no one that can hit

  • Been talking about these changes all year on the FutureSox podcast. The article from Fegan was really informative today. Highly recommend for all.  Come on, man. You know Chris Getz sucks, the

  • True, but he’s the only one with the potential to put up big numbers and carry the team for a week or two. If he’s traded, this year’s roster makes last year’s roster look solid.

THat's how it would go, but you also can't use him as the backup on a given day. That also means you better have someone on your roster who can cover all 4 infield positions, because any of those guys could get hurt - including shortstop. Someone, whether it's on of the RFs or the catcher, would need to be the primary backup 1b, and I'm not sure who the backup shortstop is. Most likely they'll "Kluge" it and pretend that they have a backup SS when they're talking about Sosa or Rojas, but neither of those is close to idea.

The obvious result is trading Robert, but if that's not done, it sorta makes a mess of the infield.

I think they will have someone who can cover. Backup C, 2 OFs (Taylor/platoon) and an IF who can play all 4.

Amaya Rojas and Baldwin are the most well-suited, but not sure why you'd do that with Baldwin (when he basically skipped over AAA) unless he was going to get regular at-bats somehow.

I would go Baldwin at SS, Rojas at 3B against RHP, Vargas at DH against RHP/at 3B against LHP, Slater and Taylor in the OF against LHP, Tauchman and Benintendi in OF against RHP/AB moves to DH against LHP.

Vargas is "versatile," the problem is that he's not really good at 3B, 2B, LF or theoretically SS...although I wouldn't even want to see that play out, it would be like Madrigal there.

Had a solid .253 OBP last season,  and is entering his ge 34 season, so you expect him to only get better.

That’s why I stuck him at just 3B

I can't believe we lied to Slater about being are premier #1 priority

Sure it does, they have no idea what they’re doing.  When you view it through the lens that the entire organization is clueless…it makes sense

Truer words have never been spoken.  It makes zero sense, but the Sox are gonna Sox.

Signing washed up vets last offseason worked so well to the tune of 121 losses and not giving young players enough at bats as a result.  So let’s employ that strategy again this offseason!

And you just know Drury is making the team as well.

There quite simply is no fucking plan here.

Well, up until last year, he averaged a 2.0 fWAR for 2021-22-23, so there's that.

His 0.4 is beaten by only Robert's on last year's team, pretty sure Luis was just 0.5.

Lenyn Sosa at 0.1 was the only "positive" fWAR guy on the roster, after Luis.   DeJong and Lopez led the team.

Vaughn Benintendi Lee combined for -0.9.

Sheets himself alone "contributed" -0.9.

They just signed the guy you've been screaming all along they should have signed last year. LOL.

And he sucked last year after a good 2022 and 2023.  He is turning 34 next month.  Time changes everything.  But I guess this shows us what Getz thinks about Fletcher and Colas.

And since you kept ripping adding Taylor last offseason, shouldn’t you think this is a pointless/stupid move again this offseason?

At least he knows his own name

Having never heard him talk about himself in the third person I wouldn’t bet on it.

Trade Robert to the Giants and be done with it.

Who would they target?  I agree they seem like the most likely trade partner, as they can afford him.

So you expect them to sign another IF? Or Montgomery is up and Baldwin is the Backup IF with Rojas full time starter at either 2b or 3b?

This one reminds me of the lack of anyone who could backup CF on Hahn’s 2023 Roster, where Grifol couldn’t give Robert a day off so he played in 89/92 games in the first half - with his injury history.

The other way this could be super fun is if Baldwin is the only SS on the roster and has one of those minor injuries that shuts him down for 11 days but they don’t IL him - someone who hasn’t played or practiced SS in weeks is shifted there full time, and they surely have no idea why they’re giving up more hits.

Every player the White Sox have signed this offseason were candidates for the Atlantic League

Amaya or Maton until Montgomery comes up.

Eldridge.  One for one swap.  Unfortunately, that’s probably not realistic at all.

They needed bodies but don’t have any money to spend. This is what happens. A bunch of low upside garbage.

They already have the Woo contract on the books for 4-5 years...

They have other bodies to play and see what they have in them.
