He got a decent jump, problem was he thought it might be caught so he stopped took a step back towards 2nd then saw it drop. It wasn't great base running he could've been 15 ft down the line towards 3rd and still not been doubled off 2nd if it was caught.He just misread the trajectory of the hit by Maton or got deked by the OFer. A lot of guys with his speed would've scored easily even as hard as that was hit. It wasn't directly at the fielder.It almost got by him .

The excuse for Vaughn will unfoubtedly be that Cade Smith was one of the best relievers in baseball last season...cold weather, etc.

Shane Smith has produced more fWAR today than Andrew Vaughn has in his entire career.
