Former Sox reliever Octavio Dotel has died

Exact details of the tragic situation are difficult to pin down, but it appears hundreds of people were in the venue for a concert when the collapse happened. Dozens of people have been pulled out alive but many have died and the figures are likely to change. Dotel was reportedly trapped for about 11 hours before being rescued and initially survived, but was declared dead after being taken to a hospital.

That's incredibly awful

Tragic for all those people....RIP Octavio.

Oh wow, they first reported he had been rescued.

From what I saw he was recovered from the rubble but died on his way to the hospital.

That is a shame. Guy was a hard thrower. Had a ton of strikeouts with the Sox in 2008-2009, had a solid ERA both years as well.

Holy s%*#. Loved Dotel when he was here. Rest in peace.

RIP and nothing but thoughts and prayers for all of the people impacted by this tragedy.

Man, RIP. Read about that this morning, RIP to all involved.

Oh do tell rest in peace

Dotel was a good pitcher. I read he was pulled out of the rubble 6 hours later, former player Nelson Cruz sister who was a governor of one of the states in the DR was also killed

Man, even before he was with us I just remember that Astros bullpen with him and Wagner being absolutely nasty.  RIP.

Reports are he is alive now

Link?  You sure that isn’t an older article?  Initial reports were that he survived.

Yeah, I saw that even MLB.com has an article on how he survived it but they deleted it.

My bad then I’m seeing conflicting info

Yeah the whole thing is awful. It’s terrifying given the reporting that he was gonna be ok.

Tragic

May he rest in peace.
