Unfortunately, the “kids” are 29 year old Palacios and 27 year old Jones. A horrible time to not have a young and ready outfield prospect.

GreenSox
Trouble with Jones is that he can't hit minor league pitching. Call up Lipcius and play him in the OF. Or ride with Julks again - he held his own in the first half of 2024, then cratered. Yea, have no OF prospects is ridiculous. Who's the last good one we drafted? Rowand? Chris Young? Haven't drafted many good IFs or catchers either. That's why the Sox are in this mess. Edited April 12 by GreenSox
Timmy U
If Ramos hits, he may find himself with a starting job as an outfielder. That’s how desperate the Sox are.
sin city sox fan
I could play as good as some of the outfielder we've put out there. Give me a call Getz!

I expect we’ll see a lot of Baldwin and Taylor in the corners. Vargas could maybe cover left too, but I would guess they’d prefer to avoid that. T R U
Am I missing something here, only 10 day IL for a torn meniscus? Shouldn’t he be out considerably longer for that?

For position players, there is the 10-day, and 60-day. He can stay out as long as he needs, but he can't come back sooner than 10 days. Once he starts rehab, he has a time limit before he's reinstated, or they start another 10-day, which again, is open-ended. The difference between the 10 and 60-day (besides the minimum time out) is that Slater remains on the 40-man roster. PaleAleSox
Put Vaughn back in the outfield. He hit better there.

Depends on the size of the tear. If it's small they'll do anti-inflammatory mess and see if he can play with it. If its a llarge one he can't play with it's surgery of which there is two types. 1. On the inside where they remove the torn piece and it's 3-8 weeks depending on how much needs to be removed. 2. If it's on the periphery it's a repair and it's 9 months give or take depending on the type of repair they use.

If he doesn't, not much utility to him.

I'm getting this surgery done on my right knee on Tuesday (a mildly complex tear and a horizontal tear). I saw the update and bragged to my wife that I'm basically a White Sox OFer, but she wasn't impressed.

Playing an even older bum in Palacios makes zero sense. Canario is the guy Getz should have acquired. He only cost "cash considerations" which Getz already collected plenty of for Jerry. We are literally wasting at bats on Palacios, Taylor, and Maton in a non-competitive season. Stupid as hell. Getz has no idea WTF he is doing.
