Why not just call up Kim and see if he can play cf instead of gambling on 15m + 2m buyout for Robert? They're already paying Kim...

Robert just seems like a salary dump at this point. He needs to be on pace for a 2.5 war season just to get serious offers at the deadline so the 20m team options make sense.

Or they would play him at 2B moving Edman to the OF

Anyone who thinks Tony LaRussa brought anything positive to this organization this time around is truly derranged.

  • I may be in the minority but I have no issue with them keeping Luis. They have nothing committed to payroll next year and no one knocking at the door to be an every day CFer. Also, I would consider ke

  • Oh no. Chris Getz maybe asked for a desirable target in trade negotiations. It's truly unfortunate dialogue ends completely after one player is inquired about.

His 2021 season was driven by a super high walk rate, which really has nothing to do with his power.

I mean I don’t really care how he gets there (walks, defense, whatever) but I don’t see Robert having another 3.7+ fWAR season with the Sox.

So is this a thing or not a thing?

since it's been tabled, I would guess not a thing, for now

I mean if that front line prospect is De Paula or Freeman I'd happily take Outman too. If we're moving Robert to LAD, I'd like to grab one of those mid top 30 SP prospects like Ryan, Fraso, Bruns, Hurt, Knack, Grove, etc. Half those guys are hurt so LAD might be willing to let one go.

if Robert doesn't get it together, no way would the Dodgers include De Paula

They're really high on Wrobleski..

At this rate, they’ll be lucky to get Mike Sirota.

New article; old news…

Bradford Doolittle apparently saw Nightengale’s blurb on Robert so he decided to write this worthless article using Robert’s and Getz’s old quotes from Spring Training.  Lame as hell…

Maybe. Sox will have to throw in some $ too.

Jerry would give this a hard NO.

Is it possible this rumor was floated to see if the Reds will get off their ass?

With how Robert looked last year and has looked so far this year a team would be nuts to give up anything more than a lottery ticket for him.

Don’t worry, his advanced metrics look great. He can run very fast and swing really hard. That’s gotta be worth something right?

Yes, it is. You should rewatch Bull Durham. Just one more hit a week is the difference between a .250 hitter to a .300 hitter. One Texas-leaguer. One beat out infield single. One short hop, ball off the pitcher's leg, one ball in the lights. Fifty points.

Luis luv beisbol but he no compete. Bueno

If Robert were a .250 hitter we wouldn't be having this discussion

Yes we would. Do you not read the comments, here?

I wish he could hit .250 again

The discussion we would be having in that case would be what top prospects we had or would attain for him rather than whether the Sox end up eating his buyout or get something like Outman and a lotto ticket

Yes, there would be some of that. It would be drowned out by kvetching over Chris Getz failing because Robert was "only" hitting .250, and how Chris Getz would fail if he didn't get 3 top 30 prospects from the receiving team.

How can you act so surprised that people are frustrated with Getz?

I'm so unsurprised that I can predict the over-reactions.
