Especially if he continues to do what he is doing throughout the 2nd half. It'd be a bargain and a half.

Agree 100%. If you're trying to acquire Robert it's because you understand he's a difference maker (possibly), and if you believe that then you believe he could end up being a bargain.

Anyone who thinks Tony LaRussa brought anything positive to this organization this time around is truly derranged.

  • I may be in the minority but I have no issue with them keeping Luis. They have nothing committed to payroll next year and no one knocking at the door to be an every day CFer. Also, I would consider ke

  • Oh no. Chris Getz maybe asked for a desirable target in trade negotiations. It's truly unfortunate dialogue ends completely after one player is inquired about.

If the return for Bader is any indication, they'd be better off just holding on to Robert.  But if they hold on to him, they might as well pick up the option, especially if he shows he can continue to play like he has in July.

The White Sox simply gambled on the wrong guy. They could have gotten a good haul for Robert this past off-season but they decided to trade Crochet instead. If they held Crochet until deadline and traded Robert, they'd be in an incredible position and would have acquired a lot more prospect capital.

Idk if I believe this. Guess it depends on what a "good haul" means.

f*** it, I'm in. Pick up the option, sign Josh Naylor for 1B and Kyle Schwarber for DH and go to war.

Man at least Hahn was able to sell.

Was he though?  He sold Eaton.  Anyone could have sold Sale.  Quintana had a lot of value.  Everyone else was traded for junk (Ian Clarkin, Ryan Cordell, Blake Rutherford).

I really thought Rutherford was going to be something.

I hate Josh Naylor so much I can't cosign this. He is the definition of a guy we sign who comes here and has a 600 OPS, gains 95 pounds, and gets caught yanking it in a parking lot.

True. I just wish his last gift was dealing Robert at that deadline when he traded like 8 other guys before getting fired.

All we have to go off of was the speculation throughout the 2nd half of last year and off-season and that speculation = much more valuable than he is today.

Ok, you're out on Naylor then. Just move Quero or Teel to 1B then.

The Sox inability to develop guys doesn't necessarily mean they were trading for bad players. It could just mean that our player development was garbage.

We gotta at least move all the lesser assets. Move Houser, Civale, Wilson, Altavilla, Gilbert, Alexander, heck Martin Perez.

No thanks, they go from above average hitting catchers to below average hitting 1B then.

Rutherford’s stock was free falling prior to the trade

Yeah I'm not a fan either but also not a fan of one of them sitting every day, which I guess happens if you add a hitter at DH.

If Robert doesn’t get deal today it’s likely Sox does truly believe in him and held firm on the asking price. I would also hate to see them cave settle for a light return here.

My thought is why not double down and lock him up. If they truly believe he can get back to some form of 2023, then convert his deal to something like 5/$60M with a 4th/5th year TOs and heavy performance based incentives. He’s still young enough to be around for the next competitive team, and we don’t have the next starting CF in the system yet.

I mean we can say anyone could have sold Cease but Getz tripped on his own dick.

We all love Quero and expected good things from Bush, which wasn't bad for a half season of Gio and ReyLo.

Quintana, Sale and Eaton had sky high value due to contracts he got them to sign.

Would have been nice if someone could have developed guys like Rutherford, Clarkin, and Cordell to complement the big swing guys he got in trades.

I continue to think Eisert will get decent value if moved.

I'm guessing Getz is getting offered Bader packages for Luis. If that's the case absolutely keep him.

The Sox literally got back only 10 innings of relief from Tyler Clippard as the final return for David Robertson, Todd Frazier, and Tommy Kahnle.  What a garbage trade that was.

There are definitely enough FA this off-season to make this club competitive next year. Competitive meaning... I don't have to watch everyone here celebrate Chris Getz "turning the organization around" while the White Sox are fucking 40-69. I feel like I'm going crazy reading the optimism here lately. It truly proves Jerry's thought that if you set the bar in a certain place, you can trick fans.

No reason this team can't sign 5 guys and turn this into a team trying to hover near 500 and maybe surprise someone.

Every bad team has good stretches though.

Because your being forced to? God it must be awful for  you.

Tito Polo.  Ryan Cordell was acquired from the Brewers for Anthony Swarzak.

That's the part of the ongoing argument I just don't get. It would be horrible to put their bats at 1B, but OMG!! slot one of them in at DH yesterday and watch everybody run around the bases like they turned on a merry-go-round.

If the bat doesn't play at 1B, it doesn't play at DH either.
