I would also hate to see them cave settle for a light return here. My thought is why not double down and lock him up. If they truly believe he can get back to some form of 2023, then convert his deal to something like 5/$60M with a 4th/5th year TOs and heavy performance based incentives. We all love Quero and expected good things from Bush, which wasn't bad for a half season of Gio and ReyLo. Quintana, Sale and Eaton had sky high value due to contracts he got them to sign. Would have been nice if someone could have developed guys like Rutherford, Clarkin, and Cordell to complement the big swing guys he got in trades. That's the part of the ongoing argument I just don't get. It would be horrible to put their bats at 1B, but OMG!! slot one of them in at DH yesterday and watch everybody run around the bases like they turned on a merry-go-round.
