Can Quero win it too?

Sure why not...but not the type of hitter to put up eye popping power numbers.

I would love to see that happen...however, love Paul Skenes but if these awards are a popularity contest...people like Jackson Merrill (who had a helluva rookie season) finish behind the beauty queen.

I think if he plays 140 games and hits the 300/370/440 it would take to put up 5.5 bWAR you can hand him the trophy. But if we're in fantasy land, lets go for 330/400/500 and 8 bWAR. That would really

Brewers fans are still salty about Patrick protected but not Smith...no matter what they always get their pitching, Jose Quintana fell into their laps, for example.

Can't possibly imagine Misner's numbers holding up...but with the Rays, anything's possible.  Former draftnik favorite.

I guess that's a Shane Smith reference . The Shangeup?🙂

Quero and Meidroth will be on that list soon.

Meidroth and Quero are not going to be traditional counting stats stand out so...more players you grow to appreciate watching them day after day, month after month.

They can rack up WAR doing what they are doing

WAR loves OBP inflated OPS.

What we’ve seen from Quero isn’t the whole story. He’s got some pop. I expect 15-20 HR out of him once he settles in.

@Chicago White Sox was right on Meidroth. He has maintained incredible OBP and according to FG, defense is good too at 2B. Dude has 0.4 fWAR in only 11 games which is absolutely insane for someone with no power. If he can stay healthy, even if he doesn't keep up that pace, he could still easily put up somewhere around a 3 WAR season. It's been forever since we had that kind of production at 2B.

Saw stat that he has yet to swing at a pitch outside the zone.  Like speed, you can't teach that.

Getz is already thinking trade,

I doubt Smith will be allowed to pitch enough innings to win the ROY.

His IP the last 2+ years:

2023    59.2 IP

2024    94.1 IP

2025    43.1 IP

Just a guess on my part but I think he will throw @ 140 IP. That will limit his potential WAR.

They are not apples and apples, but I was surprised how many innings the Sox let Crotchet throw last year (146). So maybe they let Smith go for it in September and October?

There's really zero reason to push him that hard since White Sox are playing for 2026 draft positioning and Rockies are locked out of Top Ten next year.

They wouldn't even get a bonus pick for RoY since a non Top 100 prospect right?

Don't know about the AL Rookie of the Year, but Smith and Vasil are doing great.

If he keeps pitching like he's pitching, he will be ROY. It looks like one move Getz got right. And in a huge way.

Good read on Smith from a Brewers perspective.
