southsider2k5
Well free agency doesn't typically go well when you are washed up.
WestEddy
The Cubs DFAed Gage Workman. Wonder if the Sox would just swap him out for Amaya. Workman's a good-glove SS, looks like he'd hit better than Amaya.

Would be weird having 3 Rule 5 guys on the roster but we’re in a position where that’s fine.
Timmy U
Workman is mostly a 3b. I mean, I am all in favor of all Rule 5 draft team, but I doubt the Sox give Vargas’s at bats to Workman.

If they're going to roster Amaya as long as possible, why not try to get this guy past 90 days on the big league roster, then whether through phantom injury shenanigans, or whatnot, they can option him next year and bring him along. I thought he was more of a 3B as well. Would the same Rule 5 requirements apply to the Sox having to keep him on the roster for long enough to retain his rights? Not just Getz though, Hahn had a revolving door of players no other team cared for.

I don't know if the time the Cubs had him in the majors would apply to the Sox, now. Edited April 24 by WestEddy

Honestly, if you're gonna be bad, get weird with it. This would make them somewhat more interesting to watch.

We can’t do worse with this 5-19 juggernaut.

Both could have been starting in Chicago if they could hit a little bit. They're not even prospects any more.
