Soxtalk mourns the passing of our beloved friend Alex (Heads)

Damn.  RIP.  He seemed like good people.  Always thought it was cool, way back in the day, that these teenaged kids were running such a great site.  Heads was a big part of that.

His last post was "They did it!" when we beat the Astros on May 2nd. I am very sad that he is gone.

I am sad I just learned about this.  I remember Heads had information about Hoiberg becoming the Bull's HC back in the day.  He always had great one liners too.  Damn this sucks, life can be too damn fragile.  RIP, brother.

Was just checking if my account was still logged in and…damn.

Heads, was always a pleasure.

I'm sorry for his passing. I usually try for humor. But losing a decent human being is nothing

to joke about. He will be missed.

RIP. Gone way too young

I did not remember having any interaction with this gentleman.  I was just thinking of one of the funniest posts I have read on these pages (two years ago).  I remembered the gist of the post and just looked it up and it so happened that it was Heads that had written that hilarious post.  RIP.

Very sad to hear this. I always enjoyed reading Alex’s posts and getting to interact with him back in the early days of Soxtalk. He always brought great insight and was a great guy. Rest in peace.

Iowa State football will be adding a decal to their helmets to honor Alex.

They did, saw it last Saturday when they played

I also saw Alex finally got his wish with the other Ernst not running again.

Sounds like a guy I would have really liked. I joined way before my profile states, I had to recreate a new profile because something got messed up with my username/pw, but I do remember this poster. Nothing specific, but if he was a Sox fan he woulda been OK with me. It's incredibly sad, gone too soon. My heart goes out to his family and friends.

Feel free to post a link and let us see it again. And also, you are NOT really Floyd Bannister are you? The 1983 Sox are my favorite team ever, even without the Ship. A couple flukey bounces in Game 2 who knows and I have to admit Boddicker was dominating our hitters. Floyd Bannister (as all those cats in that 83 rotation) was an awesome pitcher.

Speaking of the above rotation, I know these are from 85, but still...I think the person we lost who this thread was about would have loved the 83 Sox, even if much younger and missed that year. Hard to beat the team that actually won it all, but '83 was special to me. Britt was an absolute warrior in Game 4, we just kept effing up on the basepaths. Get it to game 5 (back then it was best of 5), we have Hoyt pitching and it's lights out for the Birds and we win it all that year. At least that's how it plays out in my mind.

A lot of the players from that 83 club have told me the same thing that if they got to game #5 with Hoyt, they win it.

Absolutely. Not only did we have Hoyt pitching but the Orioles had Scott McGregor, which with our strong righty lineup I’m not too concerned.

oh well. Weep for such a special team.
