Cerbaho-WG
Oh no. My heart aches for his family, and those here who knew him well. He was such a wonderful person.
shipps
With the Sox being so bad for a very long time now (and having kids and family) I admittedly have forgotten how much this place and the people that have made it what it is means to me. When I heard the news about Alex my heart shattered. I have been sick over the fact this world lost such a young and wonderful person in the blink of an eye. I know in heaven he doesn’t have a care to worry about and free from pain but I would like to think at some point he gets a chance to read some threads on the ol’ soxtalk to see how much he meant to us. RIH Alex…
WestEddy
Horrible news. RIP. In the middle of the normal back and forth, here, it was always nice and calming to see a heart, or "love" emoji on a post from him. Condolences to everyone here, really. He seems like a guy who made every area he interacted in better. Edited May 7 by WestEddy
ptatc
So sad. Sorry to hear this. Have gone back and forth with him about our Iowa connection since I joined in 2004. Prayers to his family and loved ones.

The Grinder
We put so much importance on our sports team winning or losing. But this story makes you put everything in prospective. Winning a baseball game is so trivial compared to losing s human life. May he RIP
Tony
1 hour ago, fathom said: So true, I wouldn’t be able to recognize anyone on this site if they walked in front of me, but I still feel sick hearing this. Heads was always a great poster and his love for Iowa St was obvious. RIP Heads When Jason shared the news with some of us yesterday, it was a very weird feeling, and hard to explain for others. But at the end of the day, it was someone you communicated and talked to for over 20 years. Thought about it a lot over the last 24 hours, just a terrible loss. Gone way too soon.

bmags
There was a very good joke I can’t remember on here (I believe from kalapse) on the knowledge we learn from each other and bring into our real lives, only when we get asked where we learned it feel self conscious (“uh wetbutt23 on soxtalk”) But I have a whole part of my brain of stuff about Iowa state and the big 12 from Alex, and so much would come up and I’d share. Alex’s humor and passion was amplified by all of us, in so many IRL conversations. And it sucks so much that we’ll will not continue to fill up. But if I blurt out a fact I learned about Iowa State, I’m sure as hell gonna tell them it was from heads22 on soxtalk. RIP Alex
Mr. Showtime
Just saw this while waiting at the dentist with my kids. Very shocking to read and while I didn’t have a personal relationship with him beyond the message board, it’s difficult to process. Others have said it better than I can, but the community here means something to all of us, and while a majority of people don’t know each other past the screen names, you get used to reading or getting into exchanges with each other where you feel like a friend. Condolences to his friends and family.

WilliamTell
I heard about this horrific accident yesterday, being an Iowan myself, it was in the news. Echoing what everyone else said, he was a great communicator and always pleasant to interact with. I feel for his family and friends. I was 17 or 18 when I joined here back in 2003 or 04 and the first 5 or 6 years it was always great to interact with everyone. I'm 39 now, a father of 4 kids, and life sometimes is a hectic. I sure do miss the older days of 20 years ago. I hope everyone out there is doing well. And Alex, I'm so sorry, we'll all miss you! The Beast
I remember Alex as a poster who treated others as respect and as one of the longtime contributors to this site. It is truly sad to hear that he passed away so soon. My prayers are with you and your family Alex and may their memories of you help them through their tragic loss. May you rest in peace. Capn12
Holy crap man....life is so short and fragile. Back from our early days on Soxtalk 1.0, way back when, 22+ years ago, Alex was a staple. My late nights, working 3rd shift and modding here, I often talked to Heads on all things. What a punch to the gut. Rest in peach, Heads.

TitoMB345
Damn, this sucks. I know I haven't been as active as I used to be, but Heads was always someone I remember seeing around the forums since I joined in 2006. RIP Alex!

Im 40 years old, but have known a lot of people on this board since I was 18 years old and even though I have never met any of them in person I still feel like I know exactly who they are and have a real relationship with them in my life. Some of it has spilled over into other forms of online connection, text, etc. but when you stop and think about it, that is a long time to have someone in your life in some way and its just fucking awful to hear this. Very tough seeing this today. It's exactly like this @southsider2k5 gave me a heads up about this yesterday knowing that I probably wasn't going to see it and he said "you don't know some guys, but you know some guys." I've met a few people from this board in real life and I actually never met Alex but his presence was just like one of those online buddies you just kind of count as someone you know. Rest in peace buddy.
nrockway
Thank you Heads for helping to build a really wonderful website and community of thoughtful Sox fans. 20+ years is a long time to be contributing to the same site and you helped make it a meaningful place beyond the White Sox or baseball. We lost a friend. I'm really sorry to all of you guys who lost a longtime friend. What a horrible tragedy.
