My goodness.

This is what my fandom has come to - being happy about religion.

His brother was my grade school principal for a long time. He’s said mass at my church. Very surreal.

How wild must it be for your brother to be Pope

The Cubs fan + a few of my friends reveling in the original Cubdom is sending me

This is surreal for me, and I’ve never exchanged words with the man. I can’t even imagine.

The trolling of the Cubs is great. Well done.

No, that is political talk which is banned here....this is religion.

There are three things I've learned never to discuss with people: religion, politics, and the Great Pumpkin.

Amazing that the original fake news report was he was a Cub fan. So the initial reporter had a 50 percent chance of getting it right instead said he was a Cub fan. WGN reached his brother who said he was a SOX fan. Geez, get it right the first time.

It's going to be so strange to have a pope from the USA. I wonder if it's sacriligeous to throw out the first ball. Popes often seem so stoic and prim and proper.

Yeah, maybe a cheap shot, but as someone who is largely agnostic, this is the “best” thing to happen to my team this year.

An off-the-field event that didn’t even happen on our continent.

Pope Leo XIV most definitely grew up and is still an avid White Sox fan.
It is no surprise that the cubbie media lapdogs would immediately claim him to be a scrub fan.  It would be quite easy to verify with his local family and friends, but actual journalism is dead and everything is just media “spin” now. Why anyone would believe anything put out by Marquee or the Tribune is beyond me.

I was aware of his true fandom from an event at Providence Catholic HS in New Lenox a few years ago.  Providence Catholic is an Augustinian school and the new Pope is the first Augustinian to be elected Pope.

We used to play Providence St. Mel way back when I went to Quigley South which no longer exists and is now a part of St.Rita on 79th and Western.  This was the basketball team in the South Central Prep League. Maybe not the same school🤣.

But Quigley South was a school that future priests went to .Quigley Preparatory Seminary South. I wouldn't be surprised if some my classmates or older brothers classmates knew him. I'll have to check my FB.

The Cubs post still being up is embarrassing.

To be fair, I’m sure he’s the type of person that bears no ill will towards the Cubs and is likely to say that he likes all Chicago teams. I doubt he was able to catch many MLB games over the last 30 years.

I'm pulling out my signed photo of Donn Pall as soon as I get home and putting it on display.

This is great news....I had just texted my wife that the new Pope was born in Dolton and I was reserving judgement until I know if he's a Sox fan...if he was born in Dolton but is a Cubs fan I have no use for him...if he ends up just being a soccer fan, I am neutral.

So VIVA LA PAPA!!!

If LeoXIV is a Cub or a soccer fan i am going to nail my protest to a door.

Considering the collection of Argentina stuff Francis had, I expect a life size Jordan statue right outside the sistine chapel
