If so, the Cubs really owe the Cardinals.

Maybe he has some pull in bringing the Football Cardinals back to Chicago.

Seems he is in fact a Cub fan...even God hates what JR has done to the franchise.

If he is a Sox fan I see nothing wrong with the club promoting the hell out of it. MLB has been doing it for years and encourages it. Hell the Cubs have turned it into an art form.

Poor choice of words for the new Holy Father, 'surely promoting the heaven out of it'!

Or are you suggesting the White Sox need an exorcism to get the devil out of the ownership!

Pizza arguments are the 3rd rail of arguments....worse than religion. Pope Leo will not be going there this early in his Papacy.

I consider them equal. Both can start holy wars

I'm for trying anything that could possibly help.

Our new Pope is a Cubs fan. God help us.

This team is beyond prayer. Divine intervention maybe.

Like they say for every 4 Catholics you'll find a fifth!

It would be great if he spoke with a Chicago accent like Dennis Farina or Mayor Richard J Daley.

We have no hope, we’ve got a bunch of dopes!

He is a Sox fan. Seems international media ran with the Cubs given how irrelevant we are.

Pope Leo is a wonderful, wonderful man.....again.

Pope Leo XIV most definitely grew up and is still an avid White Sox fan.
It is no surprise that the cubbie media lapdogs would immediately claim him to be a scrub fan.  It would be quite easy to verify with his local family and friends, but actual journalism is dead and everything is just media “spin” now. Why anyone would believe anything put out by Marquee or the Tribune is beyond me.

I was aware of his true fandom from an event at Providence Catholic HS in New Lenox a few years ago.  Providence Catholic is an Augustinian school and the new Pope is the first Augustinian to be elected Pope.

We have hope, we got The Pope!   Go Go White Sox.

Props to you sir for being correct all along.

Besides being a Sox fan these days is much like being Job, so we deserve to have the Pope more than the Cubbies.

What's left of the Chicago Tribune is reduced to repeating stuff off the wire.  Reporting?  Maybe 30 years ago.  And Augustine is my favorite Catholic theologian so it's a good day all around.

His brother was my grade school principal for a long time. He’s said mass at my church. Very surreal.
