I didn't expect much but an injured 25 year old outfielder who hasn't hit in a couple years and I assume about to be rule 5 eligible (if that matters) seems below my low expectations. Don't see the need when they can go to the well on these already at AAA. Would rather seem more bullpen flyers.

I believe you are correct, per FanGraphs.

So Getz wasn’t willing to give up some paltry cash considerations for 25-year old Canario, but he was fine trading Thaiss for a worse 25-year old outfield prospect?  Yes, I realize Canario required an MLB roster spot, but this team sucks and could have made room for him.  Meanwhile, Baker is Rule 5 eligible anyways.

So this happens in OOTP quite often. You got some guy, he's like a 1 WAR player, but even the AI knows 1 WAR isn't worth much if anything prospect wise so you get rule 5 eligible types -- but I mean at that point you just wait a week and try again.

I dunno, it's a really minor fringe move that even if you nail 20 times in a row hardly matters but you should always try and get a non rule 5 and non 40 man guy back when you are trading these 1 WAR types ,in vidya or real life. Now the Sox will probably be in a position to cut him later in the year (or add to 40) or he's just so bad nobody even wants him in the rule 5 and you've turned a decent backup into a career minor leaguer.

They are unlikely to get anything for Perez, but they should get something for Houser. Good teams couldn’t take a chance on him until they knew that he’d be effective.  Now they know, so now they pay.

Stop trading on other teams’ terms.  No more rule-V “prospects” …the other team’s 40-man is not our problem.

but it's what small market habitual losing teams do

more talk of trades than signings unless they are dumpster dive signings

trades are made to make Birmingham Better or their bench that is

we follow the same rut like the other s%*# teams do

if the Twins were almost as bad as the Sox in drafting and development, we would be in good company

Getz had this Royals envy and it is achieved.

This is also why the whole approach of signing veterans at low costs does nothing for me.  You get back non-impactful prospects almost always.

Signing Thaiss was never about the prospect return.  He was about buying time until the young catchers were ready and marginally improving the quality of the club while here.  I haven’t been able to watch him much so his defense could be terrible, but offensively he was a fantastic addition.  We have failed miserably in the past with these bargain bin signings, but so far it appears the pro scouting has been a bit better lately on these type of additions.

Can Baker replace Taylor? I assume Baker wouldn’t get picked off 2nd with the game on the line and then say it was the right move or whatever.

Which play is worse?  That one, or our first baseman forgetting to get his foot on the bag?

Getting picked off 2nd. He is a 10 year veteran. Sosa is playing 1st base for like the 10th time and that a bang bang play.

Hopefully Lee can add some power, this club needs to launch more homers.

Tim Elko would be a better choice if you want to add power.

I was looking at Charlotte’s roster to see what outfielder the Sox could call up in case they finally trade Luis Robert.

I noticed Dru Baker is rocking an MILB line of:

.198 / .315 / .245 / .560

Awesome pickup, Getzy!

He fits right in with all the other stiffs, has-been's and retreads in the organization.

aw shucks, why didn't matt thaiss, a guy i will never think about again, return a superstar in a trade?

Yeah, that’s what I expected for Thaiss…  a superstar.  But not necessarily a 25 year old career minor leaguer with a .560 OPS in AAA…

I hope you're still around to flog your interview with him in 30 years.

Better than being around to flog your dolphin to any and all transactions a terrible GM makes like some people…

Since the new market inefficiency is vets like Tauchman and Slater, I will be expecting much better prospect returns for them than Dru Baker.

You're bumping a three week dead string on a minor trade in order to gloat over a player's struggles over a very small sample size. I'm sorry you don't understand the term market inefficiency, or irony.
