Thank God for the Rockies

Recommended Posts

Three run 9th inning comeback against Kyle Finnegan tonight.

15-57 now

34-128 pace...getting closer and closer to the 41-121 2024 White Sox, might not break the record (it's not easy to do!!!)

Fangraphs projecting 50-112

18-63 at the halfway point. Sox were 21-60.

Lucky for the Rockies, the Sox didn't become completely god awful until July. The 2024 team won 3 games in July, ending it with 27 wins. So if the Rockies can win 9 games in the next month or so they might actually not have the most losses ever in a season.

Rockies have caught up to 2024 Sox pace for the first time since May.

Both teams went 6-26 to start, but the Rockies had been playing at a worse clip since then.

A solid stretch this week, when last year's Sox were in the middle of a 21L, has caught them back up at a 27-76 record.

Now they just need to match last year's 14-45 finish to avoid a new record.

Rockies have won 6 of the last 11. I don't think they are going to break the Sox embarrassing record from last year unfortunately.

Fine.  Let that 121 record stand as a monument to the incompetence of this team's ownership and front office.

They might not break the loss record, but the Rockies seem pretty likely to set the record for worst regular season run differential.

I believe the modern record is -349 (1932 Red Sox) and COL is at -331 right now.

More than twice as bad as the second worse team (WAS, -151).

Sox aren't even bottom 5 currently, just significantly underperforming their expected W/L due to all the 1 run losses.

Hey, the Rox are trying.  Their #1 pick, 18-year-old Ethan Holliday, is actually playing in the minors.  He's at Low A Fresno and started his career by going 4 for 13 with 2 doubles.

100th loss last night. 2-21 the final 23 to match the Sox.

I think the Sox can breath easy their record won't be broken in 2025. Congrats to all involved.

The Rockies will have to go 1-19 from here on out to match the 2024 Sox and lose all 20 of their remaining games to break our futility record for losses in a season.

Jerry Reinsdorf's infamy is almost certain to be safe.

There is 0% chance the Twins come anywhere close to besting the Sox 2024 season. Not only do they have a loaded farm system, they play in our crappy division and still have some good players on their roster.

They had a farm team that was already better than the White Sox and they spent the season doing nothing but adding to it.  They may be down, but they won't be nearly as out.  Meanwhile the Sox managed to cash in on only two guys and kept a bunch of others who should have been cashed in on.
