Thank God for the Rockies

I watch a lot of Sox games (unlike some posters...) and have been enjoying some competitive games against good teams. If you don't watch the games and want to just post sarcastic comments about the team, go ahead, but your comments ring hollow. The team has been improving and we have some damn good players and pitchers.

Everytime my battered and bruised White Sox fandom begins to heal - and I do watch games, much to my wife's confusion - someone like you comes along and ruins it by fluffing this org because they've taken the current title holder of Worst Team of All Time and are merely improving to Standard Horrible.

It's like going from Jones Soda's Turkey & Gravy flavor to Dr. Brown's Cel-Ray. No one wins until we move on up to something consistently enjoyable.

But let's assume we eventually reach like, Diet Pepsi status at minimum. Don't you think those soda cans - I know I'm beating this metaphor into the ground - deserve a new vending machine that accepts credit cards and phone payments instead of one that only accepts fresh-from-the-bank $1s. Why do you hate them so much?

I agree 100%, after the last 2 years I’m enjoying White Sox baseball again, this team has been very competitive and could have easily won at least 5 more games. There still are some issues that have to be addressed with guys like Robert, Vaughn and the bullpen along with hoping Montgomery puts it all together. I believe there is light at the end of the tunnel. If they continue to improve maybe JR will open up the checkbook and bring in some quality free agents next year and the team could maybe make a run at a Wild Card spot. Things can change fast, I remember the 1970 White Sox who were the worst team in MLB with a 56-106 record and improved by 23 games in 1971 and almost won the division in 1972.

I’m here for all the soda metaphors, especially in our new Oscar Colas-less existence.

I really like what we have down in the minors and am pleasantly surprised just how solid Meidroth and Q have been. Vargas has been outstanding the last month and our starting pitching has been good.  I am a White Sox fanatic and love the team, but I welcome any diehard Sox fan on this board with positive or negative comments. It has been a very trying and frustrating last couple of years but baby were back !!

Sox are trying to turn things around a bit and meanwhile, neither our players or our fans will be  phased by Sox haters , Cub fans, or Reinsdorf haters.

Some are so blinded by their own hate that they are cheating themselves out of enjoying the games.

You can still enjoy the like, 2-3 potential long term pieces on the MLB roster and want Jerry to wear the worst record of all time crown since that has already happened  both can be true.

2024: 15-41

2025: 18-38

Nobody is blinded here, this team is just as bad as they were last year so far and just because you enjoy watching Meidroth, Vargas, Quero, and Smith doesn't mean you should trick yourself into thinking this is enjoyable. This is still going to be a long miserable season with a lot of bad baseball.

I totally understand how there are some more enjoyable things about it, but we don't need to pretend that this team has taken some massive leap from 2024. They haven't.

While they are still losing a lot, the games have at least been more watchable this year. Having some of the young guys up and have actually had success has been nice. There is legitimate hope with some of the guys in the minors right now having real success, some might say are tearing it up. I'm looking forward to Teel getting the call, and hopeful that Colson keeps doing well and gets the call as well. Maybe we see them both in July. If you squint, you can actually see this team maybe having a .500 record next year if things keep progressing well, and then maybe a realistic shot at the division in 27, but of course that's the year the league might be locked out so that will throw it all off just like covid did with our last rebuild. We're cursed 😭

Back used to at least mean close to a .500 record.

Meidroth and Vargas look good...Sosa somewhere in the middle...while Baldwin and recently Quero have stumbled offensively at the big league level.  Q has at least more or less seemed to hold his own on D.

The biggest concern is Schultz/Smith/Taylor are closer to 1 1/2 pitchers than 3...and now we have Caglianone and Witt Jr. to deal with for the next 6-7 years.

Maybe Minnesota and Cleveland can't spend...but will the White Sox have their next FA over $5 million before 2026-27?

And there's zero movement on the ballpark and ownership fronts recently.

Of course, Braden Teel and Bonemer look good...but still not sure other than Braden who's the 30+ homer 100+ RBI guy to stick in the 3-4-5 spots?

I also need these guys to prove that they're better Eloy, Moncada, Robert, TA, Kopech, Gio and Rodon over an extended period of time.

People couldn't wait to jettison those guys, but they all (except probably Kopech) had a minimum of one above average season. Colson is/was supposed to be the cornerstone of this rebuild and most are now crossing him off. Ramos looked like he'd be his running mate. I'd really like to see those two get back in the mix.

They aren't good yet. They're showing a pulse. Victory laps are not in order.

I have never agreed with anything you have said as much as this.  If the (Thank God for the) Rockies didn’t happen to be on their way to shattering the Sox record last season I don’t think we would be patting ourselves on the backs for +3 in the win column from 24 to 25

And we have to keep reminding ourselves that JR won't have Benintendi off the books until after 2027...when he will have the labor impasse as a spending excuse to maintain a bottom 2-3 payroll.

Which means we could still be January 2028 before the next significant Sox FA deal.

That's a full 2 1/2 years away.

Even the most optimistic fans would agree that five plus years is an incredible amount of time for a dormant franchise to be sleeping on their fanbase after everything totally falling apart in 2022-2023.

Were they not "trying" last year?  If not explain all of the veteran signings.

Some are so blinded by their own Fox Mulder "I want to believe" that they will buy any line of BS they get fed.

If not for the horrible team in CO we would be the laughing stock of major league baseball.  Our GM needs to be fired.  What a horrible product.

Oh we are still a laughing stock.

So much of this is the Venable is not Worst Manager in the History of Baseball like Pedro Grifol "fresh air" bounce as well...

Then we had that Grade Sizemore bump as well down the stretch.

Meidroth Teel-Quero Braden Vargas comprise four spots. Still have 2-3 more left to go to be a legit big league lineup.

Progress from ground zero, sure.

Any worse was impossible to fathom.

Oh there would still be a few.

Not only is a new lineup emerging, we have Beni really making an impact. If Robert were hitting the lineup could be competitive. Reinsdorf is still a dick though.

How many times have we said this about the players from our previous team? "If only (insert one of Moncada, Anderson, Eloy, Giolito, Abreu, Grandal, etc) were (insert one of: hitting, healthy, could play defense,) then we would be winning more games!"

Linked this in a game thread the other day but it's absolutely brutal

I think Kamka ended up doing something similar before he left with Grandal and Abreu and it was roughly the same or better. Health was just murder.

If the prospects aren't ready. Who would play if they didn't sign veterans to fill the gaps?

You admitted in a post about Thaiss that you did not even watch his games, but were willing to cast an opinion. You just keep posting reactive worthless trash here like a troll. Give it up.

Get your posters straight, traybroni!  That was @Chicago White Sox, not me!  But I’m sure we all watch plenty of games from this awful team.  You just keep posting reactive worthless trash here like an angry old homer fan.  Give it up.
