He is a baseball fan and has watched this team. He sees what we see. He knows he’s buying the team from an awful owner who has lost more games than he has won, while barely trying. I sincerely doubt Ishbia thinks that 2nd place (stated by Jerry himself) or a continuous rebuild is just as good as winning divisions and Wild Cards. I'd be shocked if Ishbia is spending around $2B to buy a franchise only to keep a bunch of incompetent clowns in charge of operating the team. He's not an idiot - he knows the Sox are losing market share and have struggled with anemic attendance and waning interest for years. He's also not going to starting throwing money at high priced free agents when the team's management is incapable of evaluating and developing talent.

August 29, 2025Aug 29 He's basically right at his career median, just (kinda predictably) got a new team bump and is now reverting to the mean. Vaughn has been the same player his entire career, a mid hitter 15-20 HR OPS somewhere around 700 who offers nothing past his bat. Will be the same this year.

I think his price probably pushes into the $8 to $10 million range in his next arb year, which means unless he goes back to hot, he will go back to unemployed. Getting offered arb at about a $6 mil price tag was dumb enough, but I don't think the Brewers will keep digging that hole.
