  • Lol isn’t that the definition of personal?

  • I'm just going to go ahead and declare that we won the Vaughn trade now.

  • Not a fan of Civale, however, it's him or Clevinger, so I love the trade. If Elko is not the answer, and his pedigree does make that unlikely, the Sox have a ton of options starting with moving Vargas

If him suddenly playing well means the Brewers can actually win that division over the Cubs, (which I don't think will happen in both cases), I won't complain about it.

He just wasn't getting it done with the Sox.

  • 2 weeks later...

It is still a small sample that could regress but in 30 PAs he is hitting 391/500/739 with 20% walks and 10% Ks.

Of course that could regress very quickly but in that sample his chase rate is down to 22% from 36% with the sox (statcast version) and his pull rate is up to 43% from 38%.

I wonder if the brewers hitting crew is unlocking something the white Sox staff couldn't.

The real test of course will be the following weeks with hoskins and bauers both being out vaughn will need to play every day meaning he will be exposed to tough righties which could pull him down.

Still a trade probably was a good thing, it was not going to happen with the sox and even if he does succeed that doesn't make the trade wrong.

He had 'hot spells' when at the White Sox as well, but his overall stats were underwhelming. If he does succeed away from the White Sox, well done to him, but the bottom line is that Vaughan and the White Sox had run it's course.

Be like Mike, no Be Like Milwaukee. The Brewers do more with less and get results.  They let Counsel go to their rivals last year and still came in first place in the NL Central.  Vaughn has a chance to thrive with a restart to his career, which was totally mishandled by the Sox.

With the LaRussa/Grifol era in the rear-view mirror I think the development of the Sox youngsters under Venable will flourish.  What you don't hear is clubhouse cancer and how bad the team is being run. I don't think that will be an issue under Venable. He has been around baseball his whole life with his dad, playing, and coaching under a future HoF manager.

By the time Venable starts getting noticeable results JR will be either gone or close to it. I have to believe Ishbia will want to make a statement and sign a mega star or retain budding stars.

Yeah, I’m going to give it more than 30 plate appearances before I believe Vaughn is suddenly transformed.  Dude had multiple holes in his offensive game, and even if the Brewers found a way to tap into his power more, no way did they teach him how to stop chasing pitches outside the zone in a month.

Saw him walk late in the game yesterday on pitches he was definitely swinging at two months ago

To be fair, you really didn't hear that under Hahn/Williams/Griffol/LaRussa either, you only heard players get trashed on their way out the door, which continues to this day.  The closest you would ever come is a mad explayer.  The Chicago media doesn't have the stones to actually report on this team, only to parrot what they are told to say.

What's particularly wild about this is that he hasn't been particularly lucky either. Most of his hits have xBAs of .700+ with EVs 98+ and his outs have been largely loud outs with multiple outs having an xBA of .400 or higher. I don't think he's fixed or anything, it's just crazy that he's been unlucky during this run.

Who got trashed this season?  I haven't heard any clubhouse cancer talk .

It's 30 PA good lord.

There has been an early whisper campaign for Robert, but really no one has left yet this year.  They did hit both Moncada and Eloy on the way out last year.

Early whisper campaign? are you talking about fans on message boards?

I am not trying to be a smartass, just curious

That was roughly enough for Miguel "the Swing Change" Vargas to become the anointed savior for some.

Tensions high in an Andy Vaughn thread.

I don’t think it means anything in the long run.  It’s just funny how the minute he leaves the Sox, he gets hotter than s%*#.

Was it the swing change or gaining 20 mounds of muscle in the offseason, or was it Ryan Fuller?  And then what is the reason he reverted back to his old bad self?

Vaughn was always capable of getting hot .

Pretty sure I posted his hottest months of his career right when the Brewers called him up.Wake me up when he has a career year.

I have more hope of Baldwin becoming a 25-30 HR guy than Vaughn .

LIterally the people in the know who already talking about Luis Robert's work ethic.

Let’s hope the likes of Vaughn, Sheets and Moncada turning things around getting rescued from White Sox help raise Robert’s trade value.

He was going through the motions here, was doing the bare minimum.

Impossible not to better Moncada’s $29 million 2024 debacle, in all fairness.

Might be confusing 30 days with 30 PA.

We don't all have to be sourpusses. And while 30 days is also not sufficient to figure out his whole career, it was a reason to see some hope . Hope hasn't been outlawed here yet has it ? If so, I can be more dour.

It's nice Roberts on mini hot streak before he gets traded although most had given up hope of it ever happening but I'd like to see the hit streak reach 12/13 games hit his 99th and 100th career HRs and get him traded off by July 28th.

He just wasn't getting it done with the Sox.

He did come close to costing them a win when he muffed a pretty routine catch at 1st on what should have been a game ending DP in the ninth against the Dodgers. Luckily the Dodgers didn't get the hit needed to tie the game after that.
