Rubber Match, Sox vs Jays... 12:35ct.

Recommended Posts

Only the second road series win this season the other was at Cincinnati. Also only the second game this year the Sox trailed in the 7th inning or later and won. The other was April 20 at Boston.

He Gawn! Series Winner and Folks we might have a closer

Doubtful he'll be a true closer right now. He'll still pitch where he's needed. He just happened to be ready to put in on a day they needed someone to close. They aren't in that situation very often so it's a waste to only pitch him to close.

nice come back, what's up with Teel.  Good OBP so far but he's striking out at a 2:1 clip to his walks, did he K a lot in the minors?

New level new struggles. Made a great pick of that lousy throw home by Rojas. Seems very animated and spirited on the field. I think we got a good Captain type leader. He'll hit eventually.

Would like to see him and/or (preferably and) Quero put a jolt into a couple.

Oh I would too , no doubt about it, especially Teel since he does have more power than Quero .

I really like what I see from both of them so far.

Just throw Robert sliders off the plate and he'll either miss or make weak contact. He's gonna have to go reset on a minor league deal somewhere after 2025. I'd honestly release him after the ASB if he's still showing no signs of life and they can't get anything for him.

I'd bet money he gets traded and that he won't have to settle for a minor league contract . He'd still would be worth a $5M flyer to almost any GM and even more if he can find his swing the 2nd half.

Even if the worst happens and he doesn't get traded and despite all efforts he shows just marginal improvement through the summer months, he could get released  before the end of the season. Then you buy out the option and he's a free agent. In the Sox position there's no one they could find cheaply with as much upside as Robert which is why he won't have to settle for a minor league contract.

That was nice.

Taylor looks like he’ll be an absolute beast in the pen (and hopefully in rotation next season).   Leasure’s way too wild, but he doesn’t throw many puppies either.

Teel made a nice play covering for a bad Rojas throw.  Capra can play some D, so I see why he’s here (for now).  Vargas’ 9th inning DP was smooth.

Aside from being the best player on the team, Vargas looks like a leader out there.

There is but Sox would have to pay somebody. That goes against the Prime Directive.

1. I thought we were getting a capital infusion and maybe a change in mgt philosophy.

2. No one else can negotiate with him.

A capital infusion for a team losing money may not look like extra payroll.   It could also be going to a new stadium.

I don’t know, if he doesn’t turn it around this will be almost 2 full years of looking completely lost at the plate. Terrible pitch recognition, bad contact, almost no game power.

With that said, the Angels will probably offer him a major league deal.
