Adrian Houser traded to TB for former top prospect Curtis Mead

Love the caveat "former top prospect."

Hope Robert goes into the tank for the rest of the season and they just give him the buyout...needs Moncada phantom injury.

Then can pop up the last week or two of the season.

He'd still be a top prospect though if he wasn't called up. That's the caveat if you read into it at all.

Wait I thought "something" was better than "nothing" and now people are complaining about it?

Tauchman asked not to be traded. Has a daughter going through medical issues and his family is all lives in Illinois. Support network to help them out.

  • You can sign Houser to that deal in 4 months if you want. You absolutely take the 40 grade prospect.

Again, betting that 35 injury prone guy to be healthy and productive again, seems crazy.

He's got a .370 BABIP this year. He's been great, but that doesn't seem very sustainable.

Yep, and Tauchman will be in RF with perhaps Mead at 1B.  Doesn’t seem like they will be spending on starting position players in the offseason.

Great we have about five 3B now...it's also Bonemer's best position, arguably.

Jeral Perez ends up there too.

Maybe Antonacci...if he's not at second.

It just tells me the Sox aren’t spending much this offseason.

You honestly thought they were going full dive into the free agency tank this offseason?

I for sure didn't.

Guy is having a career year and they don't trade him. He's 34 with another year of control, but you're so far from contending that keeping him for next year really doesn't do much for you.

He’s a cheap bridge to Montgomery and helps Getz and Jerry avoid Sox fan expectations of them spending money this upcoming offseason.

The OF market is brutal…is much better the following year.

Except frozen JR spending going into that expected labor impasse offseason lol.

I can 100% respect that, and kudos to the Sox if so.

No, I never did.  But some posters here did, just because of freed up money.  Robert’s option will be the majority of it.

White Sox are sure generous.

Not giving Rodon a QO yet another example.

Robert will nosedive from here on out and take the $2 million buyout.

Maybe trade some of them for ACTUAL outfield help under age 27 lol.

Yeah, I don't see it. In your example, 55fv guys that don't get extended run usually have a very good reason for it, since a majority are given long leashes, which led to their future projections to tank. I have significant doubts there's a market edge in a space where there's a ton of data out there. Once you get to the big leagues and put in 400-500+ AB's, the projections tighten -- the error bars don't get wider. Harder to find edges there but who knows.

Sounds like you got the data…prove me wrong.

Possible but his profile reads more like utilityman

He’s got a s%*# arm…definitely a 2B/1B profile.

Safe to assume Mead is on the 26-man?  Maybe (hopefully) a Rojas DFA.

Those should be the moves.

Interesting note on Mead...he's RH but it looks like he has fairly strong reverse splits this season.

.807 OPS vs. RHP in his relatively small MLB sample size this season (.562 vs. LHP), less drastic but still reverse splits in AAA too.

Might change where he fits in the IF mix if it's not a pure platoon situation.

Though last season he had a .849 OPS vs. LHP in the bigs and was brutal vs. RHP.

His xwOBA is still .343 which is well above average.

Davitt's most recent start.

It’s not a player option.  It’s a team option.  The Sox get to make the choice of giving him $20 million for 2026 or the $2 million buyout, not Robert.  And you have to assume the Sox made the decision to pay him for next season.  Otherwise, why not just trade him for a weak return anyways?

Again, go look at the free agent OF market and tell me who you’d like them to spend on money on.

I don’t like Mead going to Charlotte. Hope it’s temporary and he jettisons Rojas in like a week.
