Vargas is head and shoulders better now than when he first got here. He has a shot at 20 HRs this season. There are some things on his swing he still needs to work on but he has the look of a solid 2 WAR player with a bit more consistency.

Vargas specifically is achieving about where he was expected when the Dodgers traded him. Meaning his full season projections today are around where they were when the Dodgers decided he wasn't in their future plans and they'd seen enough. Zips, for example, had him at about a 1.5 WAR player then have him as so now.

Wait I thought "something" was better than "nothing" and now people are complaining about it?

Tauchman asked not to be traded. Has a daughter going through medical issues and his family is all lives in Illinois. Support network to help them out.

  • You can sign Houser to that deal in 4 months if you want. You absolutely take the 40 grade prospect.

True, but even a broken toy that some kid in the US would throw in the garbage might be a prized possession to some kid in a third world country.  That’s how the Sox could view a 1.5 WAR player versus the Dodgers.  🤣

The fucking problem is we don't have any future outfielders...just Braden.

Can barely figure out how to get two catchers into the lineup and now we have way way too many infielders.

No list needed to figure out that.

This stupid franchise deserves to be contracted.

Have you ever heard of an infielder converted to the outfield?

I wish they would let Teel work out there. He played outfield in college. Quero is the catcher and Lee comes up as the second catcher. Teel is your emergency catcher

this way you get Teel and Quero in the line up and Lee on the big league club like he should be. Beni becomes full time DH

Dude has a long way to go to be a guaranteed major leaguer.  His strikeout rate is the stuff of legends.

Thoughts and prayers go out to the Tauchman family. I am so glad that the White Sox could accommodate.

Solid return; let the kids play. I've liked Mead for a while but hes been bitten by the injury bug he needs ML PAs and he should get plenty on this roster; Peoples is a very interesting get.

You seem like someone who still throws their toys against the wall so outside of your expert opinion on that, what's your point?

No doubt. But still a future prospect for the big club.
i was just pointing out he has that potential as a top ten prospect in the system

Ok I respect not trading Tauchmann if he requested to stay in Chicago to keep his family centered as they deal with any health problems.

The analogy should be good enough for you to understand.  But I look forward to more of your drunken posts.

Even without that, I'm not super mad at keeping him around next year as well. He seems to be a team leader for the young guys. Something the last set of young guys desperately lacked.

Tauchman is under team control next year and contenders may have been wary of his leg issues (which look apparent when you watch him running the bases) as they went into the stretch run. Did any team trade for a lefty corner outfielder? I think Jesus Sanchez is the only one who went to a contender and he wasn't a rental. Seems there may not have been a substantial market for his services this year.

I think if the Dodgers believed Vargas was ready to provide 1.5 WAR they wouldn't have traded him

Yes, I’m sure the Dodgers regret trading away 1.5 WAR Miguel Vargas for what Kopech did for them in the second half of the season and what Edman did for them in the postseason on the way to their World Series.  Is this a serious post?

Yeah it’s fine. Not a bad player either. But if you’re going to keep him with an OF of Benintendi, Robert (assuming not traded in offseason, and him to go with the kids in the IF, commit and get a starter or two, some relievers, and a power bat.

Just another  courtesy trade to the Rays - 4th or 5th this year; or maybe an attempt to save face.  Could he at least cut Rojas?  Lollygagging  can't be good for the precious clubhouse.

Just a lousy trading deadline period all around:  he got nothing seriously done.  Getz is really poor at this aspect of the job.  He just is.  Yes, Crochet trade was fine; but the Cease and Fedde/Kopech trades were not fine.

I’m not either. But he is a top 30 prospect in the system and young still

Honestly, I thought the return was pretty good for Slater and Houser.  I just think he should have managed to make more trades — Tauchman and perhaps Civale, Wilson, and Altavilla.

Fauske is definitely worth knowing about
