I truly don’t think Colson playing 3b was part of their plan. It’s a reaction to Rojas being awful at 3b and Sosa bad at 1b.

Trying to get Sosa at-bats is probably a part of it, but don’t think Rojas has anything to do with it.  Also, Colson could be an elite defensive 3B.  And this isn’t intended to be a dig, but they also like Meidroth at SS much more than you do.  Chase got high praise from his AAA teammates for his defense at SS last year.  His value is way higher if he can stick at SS than forced to be a 2B.  Right or wrong, I think that is a real factor here.  Before the Crochet trade, there wasn’t really a threat for SS.

Sell high on Martin right now mid inning

This.....although fathom mentioned there's no indication he is in the trade block at this time.

He could actually get a real return given the years of control.

His ability to stick at SS was questioned, not his long term ability to play 3B.  They gave him pretty much every opportunity to get better at SS.  3B has always been the backup plan and one that shouldn’t have required an overly difficult transition.  We also have no idea whatsoever on if he got reps at 3B during practice, both in the minors and at the major league level.  They could have easily been working on this behinds the scenes.  There is plenty of stuff rip the Sox on, but asking a guy to slide over from SS to 3B is super low on my areas of concern right now.

Every opportunity? It was a few assorted and inconsistent starts at the MLB level.

In the minors…you are saying they should have starting working him at 3B more frequently before we was called up.

I was just going to post that.

He needs to ditch the change in the winter. Maybe a splitter would be better for him.

His change is fine, just needs a speed difference

If they were going to not give him a serious chance in the majors, yes.
