Except a 90+ mph fastball at your face, like your user pic suggests.

in fairness, I think it was like a 70mph curveball that barely touched him 😅

Bananas are one of the better things going for baseball, pro or otherwise. I don't agree at all with the "get off my lawn" types. The Harlem Globetrotters never claimed to be the 91-92 Bulls but they

Even Konerko is slumping :(

They fill 80,000 seat stadiums.  Do you follow sports at all?

Why the anger? No I haven't followed the Banana phenomenon. Now after watching em the last two nights I've learned a bit. What's with the anger?

If AJP likes Banana Ball that's all I need to know. I LOVE me some AJP and he saw the electricity first hand.

Tonight's game was cool to see Ozzie coach first base and do the Banana dance and Konerko step to the plate. He shoulda took one pitch LOL. Banana management sure did a nice job honoring Chicago the past two nights. Nice introductions of Paulie, Buehrle, Ozzie and AJP; honoring Chicago firefighters both nights; the Banana players doing a dance to the Super Bowl shuffle; some guy on the broadcast saying there's not a bad seat in Rate Field. Honoring a family that has taken in several foster kids both nights. That's neat they didn't feel the need to honor any Cubs. Having Bedard of the Hawks there and MJ of the Sox/Bulls woulda been neat. Have Jordan bat again on 35th and Shields.

At least he didn't pop up and drop his head before jogging to 1B.

I mean, this would qualify as Banana Ball, no??

Considering the other dudes are practicing their moves like crazy, I'd say that this is the ultimate trick move.

Also if there's one thing MLB should learn from this — and stuff like the Moon Mammoths / Copa nights in the minor leagues — is that they should be ok with having fun. Obviously don't go full bombastic and let it affect the field, but getting crowds pumped with genuinely fun interludes / characters could bring in fans.

Jesse Cole is a great MC. The King at Brooklyn Cyclones games brings it every inning.

As for the moon mammoths / Copa: We saw how successful Mexican Heritage night was. Now imagine if the Sox played in Las Medias Blancas jerseys or American Giant jerseys for a game or two each year.

The Winston-Salem Italian Beef is so corny but would be a fun Sunday jersey.

Nike of all companies should be on this, but they for some reason are restricting teams to five jerseys — and we haven't even seen the Southsides, unless I'm forgetting them

Bartolo Colon, too.

Or the infamous tarp sliding during rain delays that eventually was stopped...

About 60 pct of the stuff works….the other 40 pct is rough.   Way better than Globetrotters experience though.

Curious to know if most of the haters are indeed “old”. Myself being one of them could help indicate age. Choreographed Hot dogging in sports has always been cringe to a lot of people, and this is like the World Series of choreographed hot dogging. Enjoy.

Thing is the players don't hot dog it.  They do trick plays, but when the ball is hit, they run everything out.  When I went Saturday night, multiple doubles were hit in the gaps, a HR was hit, pitchers were probably throwing mid 80s.

There were plays at the plate, sliding head first.  If it wasn't routine or anyone on base (where they would do a trick play most likely), it was a true baseball game.

Yeah, the dancing and singing is to get people interested online. But then you have real crazy athletic s%*#.

Even if it is hot dogging, like, look at this:

I also think the player that hits/pitches on stilts looks way more impressive when you can see the stilts.

It’s more like WWE — sports entertainment.  They aren’t really hot dogging to show each other up.  They are doing it to entertain the crowd.

They are going for family fun and other goofy stuff that will interest children that probably think MLB baseball is too long and boring.  However, they are also targeting females with a bunch of young players doing their sexy dances without their jerseys on.  🤣

They're also getting local fanbases absolutely fucking amped by letting them see legends / shows. How excited were people to see Buehrle/AJ/Paulie/Ozzie and a Chance the Rapper concert?

There's great humor that any Sox fan would complain about the Bananas considering the impact Bill Veeck (who Jesse Cole cites as an idol) had on the franchise and baseball in general.

Wasn't Babe Ruth really the first hot dog?

Or was it Satchel Paige and Cool Papa Bell?
