Thanks! Well I’m not a beat reporter or Jeff Passan. Just a fan. I hadn’t seen anyone in the Sox community write about Okamoto and thought people would be interested.

  • Good for them. Probably the least surprising signing this off-season.

He would have looked good on the South Side.  Hopefully this officially gets the offseason movement to get going.

Agreed to both

It was never in the cards that he would even consider coming here even though he hits well at Rate Field.

Darn, I thought for sure Jerry was going to approve Getz to offer him a 5-year deal.  🤣

What are the odds a Sox signee even gets a deal that goes into 2027 unless it's a club or mutual option?

5-10%

Ponce if basically 20 teams all pass on him.

Seems like a Preller low budget deal like the lefty starter out of KBO who was a flop last year, Hart.

Curious to see the AAV here.

I predict the Mariners will regret this. Paying him for past performance? His body type and now his big payday may lead to a short succcess window and a long slow decline.

I could easily see him having another good 3 years where he’s a big part of their offense while being a great team guy.

I think the Mariners would take that all day.

I'm good with that

I wonder if the White Sox even tried to sign Naylor.

I don't.

What are the $ amounts for the deal?  I've only read that they've agreed to a 5-year contract.

Did we have a seat at the table?

The extension isn’t official so only the number of years is known so far.

Honestly though, Getz told everyone that Naylor is not the type of FA they are going after right now.  Full stop.  They aren’t spending that money and they aren’t wasting their time offering lesser contracts so they can be told no.  There was no table, they aren’t in the restaurant.

If you honestly think it was even a consideration I don't know what to tell you because you obviously haven't been paying attention.

Yeah, this.  There shouldn't be a soul surprised at this.  Think 2027 or 2028, not now.

Seems to be no one else had a seat at the table on this one? He wanted to be back there, and they wanted him back...?

I don’t think we really know that.  Free agency started on November 1st.  Teams could have offered Naylor a deal and Seattle just matched.

We will have our seat reserved for all the kiddie tables.  We do not make reservations for adult tables.
