Or maybe your gimmick is known by numerous posters here now, just as I stated.

Then I guess I should get busy posting "I'm okay if they sign him or don't - there's good arguments for either" over and over and over on every string, just to hammer home the narrative that I'm good either way.

This thread is fucking hot!  We are less than 48 hours out now!  Keep them rumors coming!

You personally willed half of the Murakami/Sox rumors into existence.

Well that, Schoenfield speculation and Duquette piling on because there's so little credible information to actually report.

I’ve been consistent.  The Sox won’t be signing Murakami at all because Jerry is cheap.  Look at all the acquisitions thus far.  Kay is probably going to be the largest contract handed out this offseason.  But I’m not going to praise acquisitions like Hill, Murphy, Pereira, Peters, and Kay.  Let’s be honest — these are acquisitions that a garbage team makes.  Period.  The end.

How does every thread turn into the same tired Chris Getz fight?  We’re on the verge of signing the Japanese Babe Ruth and half the board can’t stop bickering with each other over a bunch of non-sense.  Let’s get fucking amped and stop with all the damn in-fighting.

Well, that will most certainly impact JR's decision-making process.

Not even sure he knows that Murakami even exists...but

And I see why you're getting nervous. I mean, you will have to become a whole new avatar once the Sox start spending above the poverty line. It's a scary prospect. We're all here for you when you have to make that adjustment.

Atta boy caulfield!  You are starting to believe!

You know we're in trouble when SoxTalk comes up on google as the best source for current/updated Murakami rumors lol.

Even went to Japan Times sports to see if anyone was ahead of this story somewhere in the world.  No dice.  No Times of India/Hindustan Times.

Wait, doesn't he play for the Dodgers?

It’s us or bust.  No consolation prize if he ends up elsewhere.  We need that 80 grade power at the Rate 81 games a year.

One exec called it 90.

Off the charts!!

While plenty of teams have balked at Murakami's strikeout rate, in-zone swing-and-miss and questionable defensive position, one high-ranking executive this week said: "He's still got 90 raw power." Meaning: Murakami's immense power breaks the scouting scale that ranks players on scores of 20 to 80.

One of these "unexpected candidates" is the Chicago White Sox. They have recently been linked to Murakami, and the possibility of acquiring him is increasing as the negotiation deadline nears.

If the White Sox were to sign Murakami, it would be the largest contract ever given to a free agent in the team's history. The current team record is Andrew Benintendi's five-year, $75 million contract. If the front office offered Benintendi a contract of that magnitude, there's no reason to hesitate in adding even more to a high-risk, high-reward player like Murakami.

The White Sox have experienced a string of bad luck in recent years, but they are reaching a turning point in their rebuilding process. Their draft strategy has been successful, and the results are already beginning to show.

The White Sox have the potential for one of the brightest futures in baseball.

Shortstop Colson Montgomery had a fantastic MLB debut in 2025, and catchers Kyle Teel and Edgar Quero also showed promise as rookies. Among the pitchers, Shane Smith emerged in 2025 and shows the potential to become a mainstay of the rotation. Furthermore, promising left-handers Noah Schultz and Hagen Smith possess the potential to develop into ace-level pitchers in the future.

The team also boasts a wealth of position player prospects. Braden Montgomery has All-Star potential in the outfield, and Caleb Bonemer and Billy Carlson, recently drafted out of high school, are expected to reach the majors in the not-too-distant future. In addition, the White Sox hold the first overall pick in the 2026 MLB draft and are likely to select Rok Chorowsky, who is highly regarded as a player who can quickly move up through the minor leagues.

If the White Sox acquire Munetaka Murakami, he would immediately become one of the team's top power hitters. The team's offense is expected to be further strengthened in the future. While the White Sox are not currently a particularly attractive destination for high-priced free agents, a contract with Murakami could serve as a catalyst for future signings. Furthermore, acquiring one of the biggest players in the international free agent market would energize the fans who are yearning for success.

Murakami is a perfect fit for both the current roster and the future roster. Compared to other star players on the free agent market, he could potentially be acquired at a relatively low cost, and with proper development, he could become a great "bargain" for the Southsiders.

"Japanese slugger, munetaka Murakami MLB The deadline for contract with the team is approaching. The postponement of the posting is at 5 p.m. east of the U. S. East, and Marquette's trend remains unclear.
Murakami from Nippon Professional Baseball MLB It is one of the best flyers who challenge it. During the seventh season, 246 Homer OPS.951 The result of the press roll was left. If you look at these numbers MLB It is clear why the team has been paying attention to Murakami for many years. However, it is pointed out that the number of vibration (good description of a missed Murakami swing though, EMP pulse-like)/strikeouts is a concern.

In the last three seasons, the rate of tripling exceeds 28% NPB Higher than the level MLB Considering the pitcher's stance, this figure becomes an anxiety element. Therefore, the team side has become cautious about joining a super large contract, so far there has been no significant rise in the free agent market. At present, the Japanese FA It is highly likely that it will be a condition close to the contract of a total of 90 million dollars of masanao Yoshida rather than Yoshinobu Yamamoto who signed a record $252.5 million contract."

Basically numbers are a lot closer to $80-90 million than $180 million plus.

Similar to Yoshida deal with Boston, which has been largely a bust due to his defensive shortcomings.
