What a fucking clown to do this after incorrectly saying we got him last night

Yep.  Dude is a clown and a sham.  He didn’t say we got him, but he did waffle and say there was some hope…  for all of 3 minutes cuz he bought into some random Japanese dude’s overreaching tweet.

This dude is now giving me a sob story about how much hate he got last night. I have to say I don't know how we have all these weirdos who say they have sources but they are all amusing in their own way.

The Astros and right-hander Tatsuya Imai are in agreement on a three-year, $54MM contract, according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post. Heyman adds that Imai can earn up to $3MM per year in incentives if he reaches 100 innings. The deal contains opt-outs after every year, per Jesse Rogers of ESPN.

Yeah, gotta make sure we save that money for Jerry's kids.

Well no, it’s just that he would’ve entered free agency again next offseason if he’s any good. And if he stinks, the Astros are stuck with him for two more years. Seems like a much more player friendly contract than team friendly.

If he’s good and leaves, you offer the QO and get a draft pick.

Fake insiders would speculate Sox landing someone and hope to be right rather than disputing potential FA signings. The guy seems legit but he probably got wind late last night that Sox did check in on Imai in the last 24 hours and thought there’s a chance, only to then find out they’re not going to make any offers.

Or... hear me out. He's as good as his contract.

This place runs as follows. "OH we should sign this guy!"

"Oh we NEED this guy."

*signs with another team to completely reasonable contract*

"Phew, we really dodged a bullet boys. Glad Jerry didnt spend his money on this guy. Gotta save it for the next guy"

Rinse and repeat year after year.

Go look at the string of events and NBB’s replies.  He totally fell for this Japanese dude’s tweet and made up some BS that there was still some hope for the Sox to sign Imai in his hasty attempt at appearing to know something.  Then he realized that this dude was just referencing the original Yahoo Japan article and changed his tune 3 minutes later.  That is what happened.  NBB didn’t get any communications about the Sox and Imai at 12:45 AM on New Year’s Eve/Day when even Chris Getz is hitting a beer bong for cripe’s sake.

Also Y2jimmy0 I completely get that the Yahoo article kind of gained alot of steam. But it only took this guy a tweet from a Japenese reporter(I guess that's what he was?!) retweeting from the same article for the guy to start waffling about what's happening. For me I don't grade on a scale of if you get there that's all that counts. I think all of on here take your reports as gospel but I don't think you put out anything that your not 100 percent on.

I don't know what happened last night. But Bob is legit. Harold was legit, etc. I sat this one out because I have an actual career and the nonsense isn't worth my time. I'm not sure Sox were ever even in this one. Jerry was never doing a deal with opt-outs.

If the Sox signed Imai to this contract, they likely would have traded him at the deadline given the opt outs. Accumulating more prospects is fine, but it’s not like this is a straight 3 year deal.

Yeah looking at these contract terms, it kind of makes me feel better. He basically would’ve been a 1 year rental here.

I don't want any player with these conditions.  Sign a 1-year deal or a 3-year deal.

I’m in the camp of getting a potentially very good player on your team is actually a good thing. Especially with the whole perpetual “beggars can’t be choosers” thing the Sox have going on.

Yep there's zero way we were doing anything close to this as sad as that is to say.

Moving on....can anyone explain to me what the hell the Cubs are doing?
