You've lowered the bar so low, the carpet can't even fit under it.

Can't give credit for improving above a level they should have never been at in the first place.

That said, getting excited for baseball.

Again, no idea what people are arguing here.  I have never once suggested we were a world class hitting organization.  But what I can tell you is I just the endured the entire Rick Hahn era where we couldn’t develop a prospect to save our lives and frequently signed bargain bin free agents to no success.  Slater & Tauchman were relatively small wins, but signs that the infrastructure is hopefully improving and won’t just burn cash every time we sign a free agent.  Same goes for the young bats like Colson, Teel, Baldwin, & Quero who came up this year and were effective right away as well as second year guys like Vargas & Sosa who made tremendous strides.  I can’t remember a time when this many young bats came up and were contributors this quickly.  Maybe that’s how it’s everywhere else, but it certainly hasn’t been the case here.  Gives me some hope we may not longer be the most incompetent org in all of sports.

The majority of players you mentioned were drafted or acquired by Hahn — Colson, Baldwin, Quero, and Sosa.  Only Teel and Vargas were acquired by Getz.  Just thought that was a bit funny.

You keep pointing this out. Why? The organization has them now. They're working with them to get better now. I'm not sure why an interview with researchers who worked on discerning hitting issues that could be fixed after acquisition is causing heads to explode.

last year was the first year I can remember we had multiple rookies come up and produce positive WAR that I can remember. It was quite encouraging even if we have a long ass way to go.

It’s definitely relevant.

At this point I'd give credit to the players themselves and the new coaches. Hahn showed no ability to nurture talent. He put together a league worst coaching staff in hindsight, at every level of the org seemingly.

Because no one knows for sure if they would have failed as prospects without Getz taking over as GM.

What is it that you are arguing here?  Like pick a specific point I’ve made and tell me where you disagree.

My only point was that it could very well be that those young players all developed because of the changes that Getz made, but I also don’t think we can just assume they would have failed if Hahn remained the GM.

For as much hate as Hahn gets, it is rather ironic that four of those key young players mentioned were acquired when Hahn was the GM.

All baseball players encounter adversity. And then they work through it. A player has success, then the league adjusts to them. I'm not sure how GMs are supposed to make players fail. Getz seems to have put the pieces in place to support players on many levels in ways that weren't there when Getz took over.

and I'm not sure how it's ironic that players who were in the organization when Getz took over, stayed in the organization, were promoted, and worked on the daily adjustments the league was making to them. GMs generally don't get rid of every player in the organization when they take over so they could have a clear claim on every victory in the system. Anybody drafted during Getz's tenure will only have played one full minor league season, at most.

But if you’re going to play that game, then couldn’t people also say this:

“Why does Getz get blamed for the team’s failures when he was director of player development? We can’t just assume those players would have succeeded if someone else was in charge.”

And I’m not claiming those are my thoughts/feelings. I’m just saying nobody can assume anything in an alternate universe, so it’s okay to be optimistic about the what unfolded last season with several players.

Would they have all failed under?  No way to know.  But I think it’s fair to assume a lot more of them would have failed with the lack of useful analytics data throughout the org, little to no access to important modern player development equipment, and support from a terrible pro scouting group under Hahn.

Yes, my usage of stats and being called a liar and unfair derailed this thread.  I will not make that mistake again.

You did not enter this specific conversation with stats. These were your first two posts after the “fixing” discussion started:

”In a question asked about who they FIXED, you gave four guys that haven't yet taken a swing in anger for the Chicago White Sox.”

”Mostly that you didn't really answer the question, you asked the question you wanted to answer, and answered it instead, after catching a tone about the question daring to be asked in the first place.”

When people refer to you derailing threads, those are the exact type of comments they are talking about. It’s not always just baseball discussion and stats with you. You have an issue with WestEddy, and you never hesitate to start shít with him.

Eloy first 170 games was 3+ WAR and 45 hrs.

Moncada was 8 war over first two seasons.

Robert was 6-7 over his start.

Anderson was at 4 WAR per 160 for like 5 years.

I won't even go into the pitching.

Your representation of the past vs the current isn't a reality.

It really just hurts the brain to try to analyze the Hahn/Getz era versus the Getz era.  It’s just pain for your head since you can point to anything to make any kind of point.  And then you can just point to something else to go against your point.

This phenomenon may just be known as JRDS 😂

Maybe it’s just simpler to say it’s all the same nonsense but it appears we may have lucked into some talent that even the nonsense can’t prevent from succeeding.

We’re entering our DRose era.
