Brad Biggs expects bear’s to be busy today but nothing splashy, doesn’t think Hendrickson is happening

We aren't ready for the Dayo revenge tour.

Kiran will have his own revenge tour.

Feels like Bears have been pretty dang transparent in their moves in past, and feels like we are headed toward a budget offseason.

I'm hoping that Trent Williams could be the splash, but kinda horrified at this defense. It seems like it's possible they roll out something worse.

Thought this was interesting

I think the right answer is probably somewhere in the middle when it comes to the cap, but I think the logic is sound in the idea of "kicking the can down the road" really isn't that risky with how we've seen the salary cap rise over the last few years, but a team has to have a willingness to actually want to spend big when the timing is right, and not sure we've seen the Bears show that sense of urgency.

It also means that NFL revenues have gone up accordingly, so players getting theirs is absolutely to be expected.

It’s a weird opinion from him.  He is basically saying f*** the cap, don’t worry about it, it will continue to rise.  Ok yea that’s fine but you can’t sign a guy based on your projection of the cap and where that amount will be in 3 years, you have to sign him based on where it is now and hope it keeps moving so you can continue to build, not so you can continue paying a guy you signed 3 years ago. All of us have joked that the cap is a joke but it’s not so much a joke as it is a timed shell game.  Some teams are fucking amazing at spotting the time to move on from players and other teams always seem a year too late on acquiring THAT guy.

Bill doesn’t really address that players salaries are also rising, he acts as if cap manipulation is just something easy and everyone can do it, when in reality it counts on players redoing their deals (which spreads out bonuses and kicks the can down the road with a lot of teams) and things of that nature.  It’s not something guaranteed to the front office.   We have teams that act like Bill suggests, like the Cowboys, and it doesn’t really seem all that helpful looking at the results to just spend to the max every season with zero look forward

The good news is the Bears still haven't used any of those redoing deals within their cap space to this point.  They still have more bullets in the chamber if they want.

27 million per for a center is insane. That's what the Raiders just did signing Linderbaum.

And centers and guards should all thank Aaron Donald for all of them getting paid now.

I like the Bryant signing alot. He was the guy who made the mention of reading Drake Maye in the Super Bowl with his shoulder dip when he throws. 6 years younger than Byard too and he's played most of his snaps at FS. Safe to say yes he is the Byard replacement.
