Used to do this with just the lefty specialists. Now they're going after Toronto's RH hitters like Guerrero Okamoto etc.

  • Don't understand why the guy who lead the team in homers and RBIs last year doesn't play ...

Stretch out Taylor you dumb monkeys.

What more do you want, he’s starting!

Not sure I understand the point of a RHP opening for a different RHP. Unless Kay is the one starting.

Burke historically struggles in the first inning (5.73 ERA last year) and does better with an opener (<3 ERA).

Did the White Sox change to blue uniforms?

Has to cut down on the swing and move those runners into scoring position.

One run does nothing.

Cease got his command back

Taylor only gets one inning?

Can't even let him go until he gives up a hit or walk?

It's not like Burke isn't used to runners on base.

It is the rare game where you score a run in the first inning and then feel less confident about the game, not more confident. Not scoring again there does not bode well.

release his fucking ass God damn

He really can’t go more than 9 pitches?

Jays crew seems to think Sox are dodging bad first innings for Burke.

When the second inning is the first inning for you.

Burke or Peters?

You can't expect a RF to make that play.

Saved a homer.

Raise volume first thing I hear is John talking up Sean Burke and then Stone doing his song and dance routine about a crap pitcher. I hate it here.

It's called doing their job

Never seen a 22000 attendance on an Opening Day regardless of the weather.

Burke will get lit up today

Franchise is so dead

I always think this is a league scheduling blame. They can make sure domes and warm weather states host for like the first couple weeks of April and I think the fans would get it. Every year we see the same damn thing when the season starts in Chicago during April

They don't want to be forced into April games. They want summer games too for attendance

I think the point here is to have a better pitcher face the first 3-6 hitters and give the "starter" a softer launch against the bottom of the order.

Which leads me to think an 'opener' is generally a bad idea because you'd think you'd want to use the better pitcher in a higher leverage situation than the top of the 1st inning.

And that is the tickets sold for it, not the attendance
