Baldwin out for the season

Featured Replies

Sam better learn to love the outfield in 8 days

Internal brace surgery offers a significantly faster recovery (typically 6–9 months) compared to traditional Tommy John surgery (12–18 months) for ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) injuries. The internal brace acts as a structural "seatbelt," allowing for earlier rehabilitation, while Tommy John requires time for a graft to turn into a functional ligament.

This is so much bullshit to hear this the morning after Austin Hays gets hurt and he’ll probably be out 6 weeks or so.

This pisses me off because now the Sox will have an awful outfield just like all the Sox Buzzkill Army predicted. What angers me is Getz/ Venable had solved it: Hays in left, Acura in center, and Peters / Pereira in right and then plug in Baldwin who was going to hit around 20 home runs this year; that was going to be a very solid outfield to get the Sox to 75 wins or so.

But now . . . ? When does Pereira get back? Beni in left? Is Hays gonna be like Tauchman last year, pretty much limping around all year, repulling that hamstring every other month? Probably.

I just said yesterday there was no reason to bring Antonacci up because there was nowhere for him to play. Well, it’s time for him to learn left field. Maybe, just maybe if he can learn it in a week?? and Periera can get quickly back and stay healthy, maybe the outfield will still be solid, but that depends on Peters and Pereira not going in the crapper with their bats.

I try so hard to stay optimistic, but it’s tough being a White Sox fan.

In what world is that a very solid outfield?

What awful news.

Brutal news, agreed. Was looking forward to seeing if CWS was right on Baldwin!

Dominic Fletcher decided to try his luck in another organization. Had he stayed, he'd probably be looking at a solid month or two of starting.

Feel awful for him. Hope they don't rush Braden up here.

Pretty sweet transparency from the org. Insert the overused "that escalated quickly" gif.

Seriously with the way he hit in the 2nd half he couldve had a breakout year .I was expecting something like this because he had been out a while.

I was really lookong forward to seeinh him get over 500 AB's and seeing his defensive development. I thought he could be much more than a utility player capable of 25+ HRs.

Sox really miss his and Teel's LH bats.

If only world.

It was pretty universally regarded as one of the worst (if not THE) OFs in baseball going into this season. Let's just say this isn't going to help. Good thing we weren't counting on this being a winning season.

Fegan had 79...

Also, it would have been a great time to have played Lenyn Sosa in LF this spring to see if he could handle it so you could also still have his bat in the line up. Cant' wait to see Benny back out there every day.

It's not going to be easy to replace players on the roster or to teach players like Acuna a new position on the fly.

Unfortunately it seems like Braden is not hitting well enough to warrant being called up.

100% agree...absolutely no reason to not give Sosa reps in the OF all Spring.

That's terrible. Hopefully the surgery works and he's back in business next spring.

Or in winterball, or something. I mean the whole argument for keeping Benny around is that his bat is still useful. Offensively they put up almost mirror image seasons in 2025, and you still don't know if he could play a defensive position in the OF well enough to help this team. For a team that loves playing guys all over the field, the are weirdly set on NOT doing that with Lenyn.

I would be surprised if Braden gets called up this season.

Oh, for those days of February where we threatened that heads should roll if Baldwin wasn't a starting OF.

Oh no! The outfield is a HAM! (Hot Ass Mess)

It's really early for him to be called up to a team when it isn't anywhere close to competition. DOn't start his clock until you NEED to.

In his world

How about you just play your best 25 and keep the ones that are good.
