The Royals aren’t doing so well but Kay must’ve put up the best start of the season thus far.

Kay a little feisty lol No reason for Cags to think it was intentional though.

Sox and KC now tied at 5-8, both ahead of Detroit at 4-9. Road record is 2-5 for the season.

Sox for the second time this year end a skid at 3. By this time last year, they had already had an 8 game loss streak (they had a 4L and 5L at this point in 2024).

Win #5 comes on April 9th this year (April 20th in 2025, April 27th in 2024). The date to beat for #6 is April 24th.

Team ERA over the last 7 games is 2.25 (18 total runs allowed). Second shutout in that stretch.

Probably should get more than a 4-3 record out of that if they could start hitting some HRs again.

it's really astonishing how the pitching is so decent given the setbacks pretty much everywhere else.

It would be nice if they could actually score more than three runs in a game for a change...home runs or not.

Well, we can't say the Sox can't win in Kansas City anymore!

Interesting comment from Venable after the game to the Sun-Times:

Manager Will Venable said fans shouldn’t hold their breath for Schultz to make it to the South Side.

“I just know he’s continuing to pitch really well, which is awesome to see. We have a number of guys down there playing well,” Venable said.

That includes fellow flame-throwers Hagen Smith (nine strikeouts in six innings) and Tanner McDougal (11 K’s in nine).

“You don’t want to put them in situations where we’re asking them to do stuff that they’re not prepared for, even if they might be the best option,” Venable said.

An Italian who's all talk and no action is really just a Sardignian.

You were watching the game when they brought in Dominquez weren't you ? Maybe you turned it off after he walked a guy but the rest of that inning went well. Struck out Witt on 3 pitches to end the game.

Can't blame him. Maybe if the team can tread water through the injuries and keep it close to .500 and within 5 games of 1st place then if those young guns are ready you bring them up maybe to start or whatever . But like with the hitters you don't want to waste service time when it serves no real purpose. Most of them aren't ready now.

I think they want them coming up in waves maybe after the trade deadline. Antonacci is basically less than a month into showing them he has a bit of power and learning a new position. Schultz , Smith & McDougal need to show they can keep it up with the good games overshadowing the bad ones which there will be in Charlotte. That can't be helped. Braden Montgomery is also only in his 2nd pro season like Hagen Smith.

Maybe the 3rd wave is Cholowsky, Bonemer, Oppor while the rest are all gaining experience hovering around .500 or higher in 2028.

Sardinian?

Nice well pitched win but we’re not going to win many games like this, the Sox need to start hitting, they’re almost at the bottom of all the offensive categories in the American League. The good news is team ERA which was around 18.00 after the opening road trip is heading down towards respectability.

Has anyone noticed how the NL is dominating inter-league play with a .610 winning percentage against the AL, there are only 4 teams in the AL with winning records.

Anthony Kay has had a solid start to the year. Finally Will figured out who needs to use out of the bullpen too.

As a Northern Italian I approve

Kay's pitching motion and body-type reminds me of Carlos Rodon.

His avg fastball is up to almost 96, but he's had extreme BABIP luck so far. That said, if he pitches as well as he did yesterday he'll have a useful season.
