What is the value of building trust/commitment from young players?

Look at Jose Ramirez giving two "hometown discount" extensions...

Guardians payroll is 29th in baseball and 19 million lower than the White Sox. They still started the service time clock with Chase DeLauter on Opening Day. He is universally considered a better prospect than Antonacci.

But sure, every team in baseball would be doing this.

Having an extra year of team control would have been meaningful for... 1 prospect the Sox have promoted in the last decade? Cease definitely fetches more in a trade had that been true for him. It woul

They really have that us against the world thing going for them.

Fourth best record the last 15 years.

I know Shane Bieber did everything possible from his side to stick around.

(Of course you also have Clase/Lopez).

Wasting Taylor early doesn't make any difference when you're not scoring runs.

It would be just as logical to hold him out for 7-8-9 hitters and run up his stats for a porential trade.

only if we had a GM who knew what he was doing...........

Which is why so many top prospects made their debuts on Opening Day this year.

There are different rules for “top prospects” though which Antonacci is not.

Getz knows what he's doing. He's doing what JR tells him to do. Keep the payroll as low as possible.

This team simply can't hit.

11 of the 15 games they've scored three runs or less.

All you can do is shake your head.

The pitching right now is performing way over their heads (and that won't last) but the Sox aren't able to take advantage of it right now

Maybe not Martin Perez....but team needs at least one veteran guy like a Houser or Civale to stabilize that rotation while they run 15 youngsters in and out.

Who's the leader of this team now?

Hard for Teel to do it from IL or Colson hitting how he is now.

By the way official game time 1:56

It's almost like there's a guy who's still available that fits that perfectly. PLUS he has familiarity with the organization and one of our catchers.

Offense wasting good starting pitching. Quite frustrating.

Over JR's dead body.

Doesn't want to even bother to drive up the price for other teams.

Wasn’t this supposed to be the strength coming into the season? I tuned out most of the offseason but I thought that was what was expected, good offense and no pitching.

Gio and JR went to arbitration over 50-thousand dollars. Gio and his agent aren't forgetting that plus Gio is a big union guy and that absolutely doesn't sit well with JR.

Losing Teel and Hays does not help for this lineup at all, not to mention missing Baldwin, thats 3 starting guys. We are putting 4 or 5 guys in the lineup every day who shouldn't be on a MLB roster. Other guys also regressing but hitting is contagious

Does nobody recognize that 4 offensive starters are on the IL?
