People kept telling you that he was making foundation improvements and should be given some time, but you kept clinging to the W-L record and would just say he “stinks”. And here you are, after clearly seeing the benefits of those changes, still highlighting the shitty records those first two years. By no means am I suggesting that we declare an upcoming dynasty, but I find it crazy you are still acting like the 2024 & 2025 seasons are somehow meaningful when assessing Getz.

It was always gonna take a couple years minimum given the org was a literal smoldering crater when Getz took over. It really looks like he's hiring the right people and building the right infrastructure. Hopefully he can continue to do so to keep this team in the hunt for a long time.

Hi guys. First time I've been able to log on since six weeks or so I think. My cookies don't work or whatever.

Before it doesn't work again for me ... my early impressions of course are very favorable. I realize I have hated our rebuilds but I have to give credit where it is due. Getz may be the answer. I still haven't returned to mlb.com but I watch the highlights and we have definitely got some 'amazing' lift and pull guys in Muni, Colson and Vargas. I personally am a fan of Antonnucci (sp?). And I've always liked Meidroth and I've never been a Beni hater. I also like the Savannah Bananas guy. In other words, with three power hitters minimum (I like our catchers too, way to bomb it Quero) I think we can stay in the Central race all year. That's because with pitchers only going 3-4 innings max I think we have enough bodies to do enough on a given night for us to win.

I don't know enuf about our pitchers still. Our closer seems good. Martin has a 1.61 ERA. I'll learn more about them as the summer progresses.

Since this may be the only chance for me to post since my computer hasn't been able to connect, let me say I'm hopeful the rebuilding is over. I'm starting to think Getz may be outstanding. Muri is the find of the decade. The Cub series was awesome and exciting.

I am thinking from listening to highights our play by play guy still is annoying.

If anybody has suggestions for me to be able to log on let me know. It's hard going cold turkey on the site, but there's some guy on X who posts a lot about the Sox and a couple facebook guys do it so I've been able to get my fix so to speak a little bit.

Sounds like it should've been in the Blues Brothers along with Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, James Brown, John Lee Hooker & Cab Calloway since both the song Take Me to the River and The Blues Brother had gospel and other religious undertones in it .

Wouldn't the worst team to play professional sports be the football teams who had zero wins in a particular season? The '72 Sixers went 9-73 for a .110 record. I get the point, but the hyperbole is a little out of control.

At this point, it's hard NOT to believe. They just won two series against two of the best teams in baseball without Mune and Teel. The offense will just get better when they come back. The pitching still needs some help. Another quality starter and some fortification of the bullpen would be great.

I really think these guys are feeding off each other's energy. I think that's one reason why they are playing better than just about everyone thought they would.

I'm definitely starting to adjust expectations upwards from "I think this team can be fun and watchable this season, and that's way more than I expected," which is where I was during May.

This season has been such a great reminder of three principles that baseball reinforces over and over (but nonetheless don't seem to make any better as a prognosticator): 1) baseball is weird; 2) progress and regression are not linear; and 3) it's hard for pretty much everybody--fans, media--to recognize and react to an emerging phenomenon in real time rather than falling into the trap of replaying past seasons in their heads and expecting future results to match.

These are why I really hate the common offseason analysis of starting with last year's season as a baseline and adding or subtracting based on personnel moves. In that analysis, "this is basically a 60-win team plus Murakami -- even if he's great he doesn't get you to more than 6-7 wins, so this is at best a 70-win team." Every season is a unique animal with wide ranges of progress/regression for individual players, intangibles, team cohesion, etc. at play. That's the beauty of watching the season actually play out. Basically: "that's why they play the games."

T-6th in position player fWAR at 10.3 with Braves. wRC+ is 7th at 105. Defense picking up now -.5.8 below avg which is good enough for 10th. 17th in fWAR for pitching. 20th in FIP.

For individuals we have two guys T17th in fWAR, Vargas and Colson, both with 2.5. Very impressive first 2/5 the season for those guys.

We're somehow 6th in the mlb.com power rankings.

It's amazing how well the infield is performing. You've got what looks like (in WAR) 5 5 3.5 5 potential across 3B, SS, 2B, 1B. The outfield is vastly improved too. Antonacci is playing like a 3/4 WAR guy. Still waiting to see how Braden holds down RF, but he's obviously who will be out there for a while. Peters is probably playing way over his ability but still - he's a good every day regular right now in CF.

It's clear Getz learned from the failings of the previous regime. He's recruited some of the best minds from the best run organizations in baseball. You can see the difference in philosophy, especially hitting, from the minors up through the big leagues.

I always cringe when a player leaves, and the dialog is "they just lost 25 HR. Where are they going to get those 25 HRs from, now?" Production comes in different shapes. It's pretty stark when Mune goes down, and the team kind of morphs to become a slightly different mode of run production.
