May 17May 17 When do the Sox go north and play the Cubs. I don’t see any reason the Sox can’t hit a bunch of homers at Wrigley and win that series too.

The rotation is smoke and mirrors, at this point. But with that top 5-6 of the order, they're never out of it.

He's also just not that good. Great defender sure but just an average hitter at best. Star player for now but I bet he dims a bit over the next few years.

May 17May 17 I’m not saying this as if I know the answer definitively yet, but what if after all the crap that Chris Getz got, is it possible that he actually has this whole organization going in a good to great position moving forward? He seems to have found a type of player they want. They want guys who play hard every night and are just ball players. Whatever you say about their individual talent level, they all play hard no matter what. His talent acquisitions are starting to look better too. Mune obviously helps, but think about Vargas, Meidroth, Antonocci, Teel, B Montgomery, Vasil, Smith, Thorpe, Bonemer. Those are just the few guys who are good players. He’s had misses but every GM has. I’m not sure what I think of Veneble yet. It’s been hard to judge his on field decisions because of where the team was last year until now. He’s had tons of limitations with the roster until now and even some now. I find his interviews boring. However, people that know him rave about him and his knowledge of the game. Most importantly is that he seems to have completely changed and set a culture. Massive win there. This was a Chris Getz decision and so far he seems to have gotten it correct. Development at all levels looks better. They seem to be drafting better and higher draft picks seem to be developing properly. Also, guys at the major league level look like they are improving as well. This is due to the people he hired. The number one draft pick is also about to be joining the organization. It could all fall apart by July, but as of now Getz seems like he may be ok at this.

He's a great player it's just tied up mostly in defense which won't always carry him especially as he ages.

But glove first bottom of the order OFs aren't usually 9 figure faces of a team.Agreed on the TA thing as well.

That said, there was nowhere to go but up. Rebuilding off a 100 loss team is always the easy part. Hard part is actually doing something after.
May 18May 18 Hot take: Both Quero’s celebration and all of PCA’s antics are great.Baseball is better when players are showing personality and having fun.

Just seems like there’s a better foundation this time around to make this sustainable for more then a year or two like before.

They know what they can work with and what to pass on. If international starts firing on that burner, it would be nice. I'm guessing that projecting 12-year-olds is a whole different game than 16 or 20-year-olds. A few of those early trades also seem to have been sight unseen, or word of mouth. I'd also guess he had an entire pro scouting department he didn't trust or couldn't rely upon. Beyond that, if he's assembled a team who scout, run numbers on and put together trades for Getz to pull the trigger on, who cares if he didn't know Acuña was a switch-hitter or not. I'm sure the guys who watched film of him and determined he was a candidate for Shoman tweaks knew what they were looking at.

May 18May 18 What a fun win, walkoffs are one thing but against the cubs in this series that’s a completely different thing. There was a lot of fan heroes and villains born in this series, and that is really fun for the rivalry

Hard part is actually doing something after.I would say that the hard part is convincing the owner to not be so hands-on in the decision-making. Also being patient and letting the contracts on his boys in the front office run out was probably pretty hard, too. Selling people in other organizations on a vision to get them to step out of line for a promotion in the safe sitch they know probably isn't very easy, either. Yeah, it probably gets harder to pry guys like Vargas and Pereira loose once everybody sees what you're doing. And once teams stop looking past the White Sox to their weekend series against the Yankees, the games might get a little harder, too.
