Might be a boomer take but i have no problem with PCA giving it back. They were heckling him the whole game and even admitted to planning it:

"“Our goal the entire time we planned this was we knew PCA was in center field and we’re like, ‘We’re going to heckle him at some point,'”

The lady wasn't even offended by it. Just a bunch of white knights on the internet

Eh, this still affirms to me that he's a total D-bag. So, the fan said he "sucks"....boo-hoo. $115M Golden Boy's response wasn't proportional at all. It's not like she went after his family or anything like that. If having fans yell "you suck" were crossing the line, then we'd be hearing on a weekly basis how players were shouting the f word and the b word back at fans.

No, she wasn't offended and, in fact, got a lot of mileage on social media out of this. If anything, I bet this made her day and she and her friends will get a good laugh at this forever. I don't think he should be fined, either. But, the white knights on the Internet are the Cubs fans who are calling Sox fans classless because one of them dared hurled mild insults at their golden boy.

9 game homestand vs. a wildcard rival, a division rival, and the crosstown rival… Sox come out of it 7-2. Their starter didn't have it today, their closer didn't have it (bad luck/calls aside), and t

PCA should be the professional and be man enough to ignore heckling. He should be used to it by now. But that woman was also full of it. She made some tweet about how she was just sitting there trying to enjoy her engagement party, when you can clearly see that once PCA botched the catch she immediately bolted from her seat and ran over to heckle him. 😆

She did nothing wrong. She's a fan. PCA does "suck." She was clearly posting that she was "just enjoying her engagement party" with a nod and a wink to the fact that she was visibly giving it to PCA. It was on TV and she had undoubtedly heard from her friends that millions of people watched the whole thing by the time she posted. She wasn't trying to hide anything.

Unpopular take nowadays, but I think heckling is an increasingly lost art form and that the decline in fan heckling of opposing players is a shame. The creative outfield heckling I used to hear as a kid was a factor of ten more intense than anything I hear these days. It was also just tremendously entertaining, you rarely hear it now, and way too many fans seem anxious to (to use the term from above) "white knight" for these guys who could care less about them rather than enjoy the wit of their fellow fans on a day at the ballpark. These guys get paid millions to play a child's game and they are just going to have to deal with a lady making fun of them when they blow a catch. Yes, there are varying degrees of quality in heckling, and some heckling (aimed at kids, family, race, etc.) is out of line. But this is a story about modern players going soft, not modern fans going wrong.

Like I said in the game thread, his missed strike call against Swanson when PCA stole third was terrible. Edgar tried to challenge after he threw to third and the ump didn't even give it to him because it wasn't immediate. Like how are you supposed to challenge when you need to throw to third?

If Quero didn't hit a walk off homer, that call could have lost the Sox the game, as Swanson scored the go-ahead run in the inning after he walked.

Bart and Lisa knew heckling was part of the game way back in 1992.....though apparently Strawberry didn't think so 🤣

There's already a Harry Potter night July 29th. Someone should tell brooks to add a wand giveaway

And at least have a giveaway for 15000-20000?

They can't do the Dodgers' 40000 for every single promotion, but 10k seems ridiculously low in comparison.

Yeah, "you suck" is like entry level heckling...one imagines every player gets that at some point, including from their own fans for many. And if he went back at her with like "f you" or "f off" it would be a little soft but fair enough. It's really the specifics of what he said back that make it a "story" instead of just a niche crosstown footnote like LRJ shushing the hecklers behind home after a HR.

Make a bunch of shirts yourself , show up early and hawk them on the street on the most populus walk to the park or ask Cork and Kerry to sell them for a share of the profits on .

Oh wait youre in Cali like me . Ok theres a shop by Sox park that sells that kind of stuff.Maybe they have a shirt guy who can make them and maybe if they like the design they can front the money to make them for a chunk of the profits. I dont know if you'd need a lawyer to protect your design or represent you but strike while the iron is hot. Tough to do without funds or being in Chicago to pitch it in person .

Maybe email the guy who does the Sox in the Basement podcast. He goes to Cork and Kerry and advertises for them. Seems like a decent guy maybe he's got some Bridgeport connections. Maybe contact MLB and see what it would take to be an officially licensed by MLB product.

Check your texts.I got u.

Cubs fan talking about attendance on Twitter. They are so fucking mad I love it.

White Sox up to 23rd.

Small progress.

Edgar's walk-off celebration down the 3rd base line had some elements of Kash Patel's drunken celebration after the US Hockey team championship. Really intense, but Edgar, at least, deserved it.
