We have no excuse not to buy a top-end SP in free agency this offseason. As such, I’d rather keep Bonemer and go with a cheaper SP at the deadline. I truly believe we should not be doing “all-in” trad

Pirates would be insane to give up J.Jones plus for a closer ...

NL now has six teams all within just two games for second and third WC spots...

StL Miami Pitt AZ Wash SD

AL is basically Sox/Guards Seattle Boston Texas Baltimore and Twins...Tigers Astros Twins and O's could all be sellers though, or buyers/sellers trying to compete on fly

Ryan six homer outing doesn't exactly boost his value though

Unless it's the one piece to put you over the top for a true WS contender.

Sox still need catcher 1-2 SP and 1-2 relievers.

Yeah, giving up Bonemer+ for Miller right now would be fucking nuts and not in a good way.

I’d make the argument that Miller is the single most impactful addition they could make among the realistic trade targets except for Webb.

And it’s going to cost Bonemer…unless for some reason they believe in Schultz and Hagen, but that just digs an even deeper hole in the rotation.

Guess you could also get Buehler Vasquez Giolito Waldron thrown in, but not sure if that really solves anything rotationally.

I could realistically buy a brand new Jeep, but my wife is going to make my life not worth living for about a year after. If I’m lucky

It's very impactful, but you need to get the ball to him first. They really need a SP first and foremost to have any chance at a deep playoff run. We all remember how disastrous 2020 was in Oakland. Burke + SP + Martin is at least a playoff rotation you can feel somewhat comfortable/confident against the AL.

Would only make sense if they also got a starting pitcher and a catcher. Which also wouldn’t make sense.

Mason Miller

Michael King 98% sure he can/will opt out for 2027

Fermin or Campusano (catchers)

Cost?

Bonemer, & Schultz OR Hagen Smith…maybe you luck out and get them down to two lesser prospects instead of those particular pitchers, like McDougal and Sandlin paired with Bonemer

That is way too much to give up.

Agreed. Unless you’re going to convert Miller back into a starter next year, I’m not giving up Bonemer for a closer.

Maybe it would be another weird Padres/Preller trade. He loved Noah Schultz out of HS. I also don't see them totally selling. He'd try to get win now type guys in the deal. What if it were like Schultz, Shane Smith plus other stuff potentially? I'm also totally speculating and not a big fan of trading for relievers.

Shane Smith's value has cratered.

McDougal/Sandlin combo would be enticing, but Bonemer would be the #1 target.

That and dumping Bogaerts/Cronenworth for 25-35 cents on the dollar.

If by some chance the Sox do acquire Mason Miller would Grant Taylor be moved to a starter role for the 2027 Season?

That’s fair. If this hypothetically happened, they would definitely have to trade for a SP. Maybe Miller and then a rental SP like Gausman/Peralta/Ray and then throw money at a SP in free agency in the offseason.

I’m interested to see what happens to guys like Schultz, Hagen, Carlson, etc at this deadline. This is the first time Getz is calling other teams instead of taking calls. Will be fascinating to see how aggressive he is during a season that wasn’t expected to be a contending year.

What good is Miller when we have two SPs?

Pass. I don't want them giving up what it would take for Miller.

It would be kinda funny if we all find out this season that Getz is closer to KW than Hahn when it comes to treating the minors like moveable assets to upgrade the major league team
