I find it hard to believe Getz would trade Sandlin after what the Sox did to get him. That said, I could see making that trade except for the fact that Ray’s stuff has ticked way down and he doesn’t throw enough strikes. I would be afraid to take him out of that park. Trade those three for someone slightly better?

If you think he can be a mid rotation guy, you don’t trade him for two months of an ok rental catcher. If his ceiling is just a back of the rotation type, then the calculus changes. To me, it just comes down to his newfound velocity and how that changes things for him.

I don’t see Sandlin going for a rental SP of that caliber and definitely not with two other decent prospects.

To me it's asset management over not just this season but the next few. Who are you getting that's going to give you say, 30% better production than what we have at the 4th or 5th starter spot not just this year but the next couple as well?

Adams could be that guy himself, maybe not 30% better, but say 20%.

The Dane Dunning trade come to mind, that one didn't really come back to bite us as he got hurt again, but it also wasn't a good trade by process or by results was just mediocre.

They need to find a way for him to get an MLB start or two before the deadline, 40 man be damned

thats a huge overpay. I don't see the Sox trading sandlin or any top 10 prospects for a mediocre rental who's being paid like an ace

I would hope the Sox would just say they'll pick up the rest of his salary and offer them one or two in the 15-20 range

I disagree with that. I think the Dunning for Lynn trade worked for the Sox. Lynn was a key part in 2021 and pretty good in 2022 too. He did what they hoped he would do when they acquired him.

And then him Kelly Graveman destroyed the clubhouse…along with Grandal TÁ Moncada, etc.

Ray is almost 35 and JR will pay him $8.33 million for two months of pedestrian work, especially moving over from a homer-preventing stadium to GRF?

And give away 2-3 prospects to boot?
