We have no excuse not to buy a top-end SP in free agency this offseason. As such, I’d rather keep Bonemer and go with a cheaper SP at the deadline. I truly believe we should not be doing “all-in” trad

Trevor Bauer is an awful clubhouse fit even if you believe him innocent of any criminal wrongdoing. I also don’t understand why anyone would think a 35 year old pitching in the Nippon League or where

If the price for Peralta was more than Smith and Wolkow, that seems really light for Detmers.

Different Smiths.

likely bullshit but this is a package of two dudes I would love for us to bag.

FWIW, Carlson isn’t playing tonight

It’s definitely good the Angels are open to selling their controllable guys. That option will help keep rental prices in check to some extent. A couple more teams deciding to sell would be swell too. I know the idea is “every team needs SP” but there will certainly be teams who prioritize other needs over it and a few teams on the fringes who will neither buy or sell. Given there are quite a few SP options, there is zero reason to think Getz won’t be able to land an upgrade.

The thing that killed us in the Cease trade era was suddenly the brewers opening up some guys and a few other teams. Angels may think they have a good hand with few sellers, but I mostly think teams don’t want to pay for control at the deadline, they want to trade for impact. Control is easier to price in offseason

I want Robbie Ray above all other rentals.

Getz just asked if you are providing the prospects.

I think Adley Rutschmann.

Gross, he’s injured and only has one extra year of control. Stephenson makes 100 times more sense.

I'm fine with trading Carlson but I hope it's not Detmers. He's probably not enough for Hunter Greene or perhaps even Kirby, but I like both of them better

I’ll drive them to the airport!

Carlson for Rutschman would be rough. If Adley had more control then maybe, but they should use Carlson to get pitching.

Oh snap - wonder if this has anything to do with Soriano also being scratched.

Adley is on the IL for the third time this year

Cubs top prospect also not playing

I’d prefer Stephenson and then use better prospects for pitching. I don’t think the Sox need to reinvent the wheel at the catching position. They just need to find someone who won’t kill them on a daily basis like Quero and Romo have. Stephenson is respectable enough to do the job.

Another thing with Soriano is he’s been lights out all year aside from his starts against us and the Yankmes…

Maybe the Sox picked up on something with him that they know they can easily change to push him to another level.

He's been such a disappointment. He hasn't been a good hitter for 3 years now.

God damned Cubs.

This is definitely a sellers market with so many teams still in the race for a playoff spot. Nothing big yet and time is running out.

Just for reference, in 2024, Getz made the Vargas trade the day before the deadline, and 3 smaller trades on deadline day. Last year, he moved Austin Slater the day before, and Houser day of.

I don't think I need to keep refreshing Twitter until tomorrow evening.

Don't know this account. Cardinal fan.
